There is no single answer. It depends on the application. We offered multiple selections for our customers depending on how they intended to use their engine and where.
Edit: since this is a Ram Forum, I would say the majority of applications are light duty, meaning no dusty environments, and the life safety aspect low (compared to powering a vessel or a hospital, etc.).
Therefore, most trucks would get a light duty air filter = moderate efficiency and low capacity.
A low use vehicle would get low efficiency filter.

Looking at this a bit more in detail, the Napa gold and wix are essentially the same filter. Yet the Wix did slightly better here........
Anyways, this right here is why I'm a pro stock intake person now. Air filtration is SO important to the longevity of your motor, its just not worth the 5hp you MIGHT get with a cold air intake.

I strongly dislike everything RP but man can't argue with data like this.....

Did you see the Fram curves? Far more efficient and capacity than RP.

Yeah I did, they're pretty impressive. I have such a back stock of RP filters tho it'll be a while before I need to buy anymore...

I guess I haven't stocked in a while, mostly because I don't want a shelf full of parts I can't use if / when I change vehicles. It's a PITA to get rid of them.
Haven't been driving much in retirement + pandemic. Hoping to get outta that mode this year. Somebody posted shelf life of synthetic oil being app 2 years? I suppose because of additive again / dropout, cause it shouldn't be base oil oxidation.

Been out of the gassers for over two years. I ran the SRT filter on my 6.4, and I had a couple buddies who ran them on 4th Gen 1500s. Another just bought a 5th Gen 1500, and I was wondering if the SRT filter fits the 5th Gen w/5.7? I should add his '17 started ticking before he traded it. He already bought Red Line for his first change on his '22 LOL

I just use what we know across the board and not go to much into one post. The GM test was just as good as this graph imo, and the result was similar, which is great validation for either choice fram ultra or royal purple, but doesnt it lend a little credibility to there being a top 2 choices for filters? Seams like other filter choices are shrinking.
RP/Amsoil and Fram Ultra whatever order you have them cant go wrong there, minus the smaller filter option on the hemi. I can say I already been using rp on the ram and fram ultra on the rav 4, and one more picture for me is the RP is softer and more pliable when coming off the truck even at 2 year interval. Now, I always have been impressed with fram ultra as well, it is still pretty pliable and I will still buy those in 6 packs for the wifes car, but for me I think RP might be a little better at the end of a long interval based on what I've seen. As finicky as my truck is, I want rp even if a hair better.

Fram Titanium looks as good as Ultra on paper, a little difference here and there, maybe just as good as Ultra? I'm not sure why fram has two top quality filters, that is the question we need answering imo.

I should add, regarding the new test data @Burla dug up, Royal Purple, Fram Ultra, and Amsoil Oil Filters are all made in USA. That's important to me, since my career spanned the oursourcing of good manufacturing jobs overseas (including my own).
I try to buy USA whenever I can, even when it costs more, hoping maybe we can resurrect product production here. Intel building 3 new microchip plants within 2 years is a great start!

Wix xp is made in usa as well. May not be as efficient as those others but made in usa none the less

lol that reminds me ive got an old xg16 for the 3rd gen ram hemi that ive had for sale on marketplace for 10$ for months. now Im ready to give it away to a ram forum member lol they would just have to be close to Montreal Canada to be able to pick it up as I would imagine the shipping to anywhere to be more than the filter is worth...
