I've had tick from oil bleed down; the kind where you start truck when cold, move around for 2 minutes shut it down; then start up in 2 hours again. That occurs with every filter I've run though, some one on this forum said one possibility was due to a faulty/bad anti drain back valve and to make sure oil got at least 50 degs C. Last feb I replaced just my fram filter to see if that helped, it didn't though. Oddly for me that tick only seems to happen in the cold winter months, I've been experimenting lately running with MDS enabled on those few short trips to see if that helps. So far so good.
But I've never had that lifter tick at hot idle which is the classic "hemi tick"/lifter failure. I will grab a video at some point and let you all hear how smooth this thing sounds on HPL and the small Fram. Hard to say if it's quieter than the RL I had before because poor memory and confirmation bias affects me too, but it sounds so quiet. Very happy with it at this point if I can keep that bleed down away. But yeah, as soon as my oil filter relocation kit is installed I'm going back to the bigger filters, the big Fram doesn't seem to fit right now without a struggle.
