Well all she says is Made in USA and product number? No date on this ok girl. She’s still on my truck at the moment. I’m going to cut her apart on my next change to see what’s inside (first time with an filter).View attachment 199254

Yours is on your truck? The thread on my filter is way off. I havnt determined the actually thread size it is, I can tomorrow, but it isnt even close to right. Shame too, I have never had a problem with the RP 20-820s until this.

Yup she’s up there snug and not leaking. The post was suppose to be informing about “made in the USA” and then the question if the number was a part number lol grammar off, sorry.

And they have the "ZZ" stamped in the inside with the 8 holes and the cheese gradder inside ... so I must have the good ones eh ?

We are gettting my wife a Grand Cherokee with the Pentastar 3.6. RP site shows 40-1009 filter, but it appears to be unobtainium. I emailed RP Direct, and waiting on response. Wix XP would probably be my next shot, but people rant about the efficiency rating. May end up going Mopar.

I do believe wix doesn't make that unless something has changed, I think your two spun microglass choices are amsoil and fram ultra. Let thread know if different.

Well finally did my 1st oil change on my truck and second since I bought it which the dealer did the first one....

I made a funnel which rested right below the mopar filter and i first loosened it til it drain as much oil into the container. I then carefully removed it and lowered it into the container.... i used a Arizona green tea 1 gallon and cut the top and reshaped it with heat gun ....i will post a picture of it tomorrow...

But the 20-820 did fit in there but i had to insert it into the area side ways which when it comes time to remove it it will definitely create a huge mess... i have a few months to think about how I will be removing it, but I did find a filter drain tool which seems to really work..

After the oil change i started her up and wow ... it is so damn quiet already lol ....

This is why we need forum members to cut their stuff open. I've cut open 3 royal purple filters, all were in perfect condition and the media was pliable and obviously not paper. Oddly the one I had on my truck the longest 2 years and 10k miles had the softest media, that spun microglass with out last any oil. I don't like royal purple, most of their stuff is gimmicky, but their oil filters are Amsoil clone filters are they are top of the heap, srt filters aren't.

What I like about the SRT filters is it's designed with a higher psi bypass filter. The media might not be the greatest but since most of us are running a thicker oil than the 5w20 that's speced for the 5.7 I believe the higher pressure bypass valve may be beneficial.

JMO, the RP/Amsoil/XP filters synthetic media is useless if the bypass valve is opening more than it's filtering....

Makes me wonder, between paper and spun micro glass, which one allows for better cold oil flow? So bypass at apples to apples temps would be used less.

My last oil change I switched to the Purolator BOSS Filter Part No. PBL12222. My local Advance auto parts store keeps them in stock and I wanted to try it as a test. So far my truck idles smooth and runs great but its early yet.

I know @Burla doesn't like purolator but I tried it anyway lol

So, I had my buddy look at his SRT filter inventory. The diagram on the box calls out "Advanced Filter Media". It also still says "Made In Poland". I think the word synthetic came from the interview with an SRT engineer where they asked about the filter.
