Ok so the xg2 is tuff to cut and pull apart!
Still pliable and didnt crack or anything. Backing is wire mesh and was able to separate 2 layers without it ripping into little pieces.
If i remember correctly someone emailed them and they said it was 3 layers and indeed synthetic still. Looks quality to me!

Now I'm confused. Fram guy said the re-designed Ultra XG Oil Filters had two filtration layers, both synthetic. I'm assuming the outer layer is coarser and the inner layer is finer. He also said they don't use a metal mesh backing inside because the dual layer is stiff enough not to collapse.
The picture shows a metal mesh backing. So, what are we looking at? An old filter?
