I had 2 and figured I’d be able to get more. Guess I should have bought more when they were available

I’m thinking about using the mopar 899 until the RP is available

Imo, I wouldn't use that filter anymore.

A lot of folks are leaning towards the FRAM ULTRA Synthetic XG2/10575 oil filters as an backup oil filter once/until the RP becomes available again. I would use the Purolator Boss PBL 24651 if I hadn't already had an AMSOIL EAO11. jm2¢

Fram xg2, but some people like the 20-500 just as good or better then 20-820. I think do to holes, I'd go fram because I generally see those as equal. I am a little concerned with 6 holes just because I had that filter tick once, so my opinion is skewed on that 1.

I was curious to see when my latest rp 29-867 canister filter was made, 10-22-22 right here in the usa. So I read the fine print of my 20-820's and they also were made right here in the usa. But this really makes this situation whack? So is there a shortage of canister material, the sheet metal? I foolishly stocked up as I was worried about the supply issue, but apparently it was made last month. The mystery deepens...

takes awhile for the silkworms to make enough stranded glass fibers...

The difference between the 20-820 and the 20-867 is the "can", and the bypass which is also stamped sheet. I just think that sounds thin, I mean no canister material for a year? like huh. Did they accidentally make a million too many 20-500's and the only way to get them sold was to hold production on their cousin filter? Just found it weird a filter in my hand today was made last month and we havent seen those other filters in so long.

I did one search on YT a week or two ago for the Fram XG oil filter I'm using, and now YT "helpfully" continues to spam me with oil filter videos :boxed:

Anyway, this one came up; Napa Platinum run in a 5.7 hemi challenger with Redline 5w-30. Synthetic wire backed media, silicon ADBV, can is a little weak. Micron rating not known.

Might be worth a look?

Could be large like 30 microns, Wix makes that filter for NAPA. Then again Wix also makes the SRT filter and supposedly that is 20 microns.

Looks like end of February expected to be available from royal purple thru Amazon

I went with the fram X2 for now and Mobil 1 oil since my local store was out of RP 5W-30
I have M1 full syn 5w20. It's louder for sure. There's just something comforting about redline 5w-30 and the quietness you get. Hurts the wallet but I will go longer between oil changes than I would any other oil. I also notice on occasion i get some upper cylinder tapping for like 2-3 seconds after trying that M1 5w20. It wasn't doing that with RL 5w30.

Does anyone know if the XG10575 filter is a better choice than the XG2? the XG2 is much larger, but seems that the XG10575 has larger holes. I know that has been discussed before but wanted to know if there's really any difference. Well, the XG2 only has like 1k miles on it so I'm definitely not removing it to find out. Just curious.

Imo, they both are about the same. One having a larger diameter case(FRAM ULTRA XG2) versus the (FRAM Ultra 10575)and are almost identical in heighth with the exception of the XG2 has a wire back media and the XG10575 doesn't.

If the XG2 is performing well for you then you have found your filter.

Some folks are going to those filters as an temporary replacement oil filter until the stock of the Royal Purple 20-820 becomes available.
