Did not see a Stratapore upgrade listing but I did find out that the LF16002 is an upgrade to the LF3681 oil filter, the LF16002 is classified as a premium oil filter compared to the standard LF3681 filter. In fact if I owned a vehicle with a Hemi or any gas engine this filter would fit, I would not hesitate to use this Fleetguard oil filter based who makes it, Fleetguard known quality, its oil flow rating of 20 L/m and how efficient it is for a 25 micron filter.
Its on my truck now. Stratapore is written on the can

Yeh, as it turns out after picking one up at "O'Really's" and visually inspecting it, it looked like an ordinary run of the mill oil filter with a fancier "paint job" ... it states on the box that the filter media is a Synthetic Resin Media, whatever that is, for longer drain interval(s)/10,000 mile protection and traps 99% of contaminants @ ? microns.

I cut the filter open and the filter media is rather hard to the touch and there isn't any screen backing, oh and the oil filter is made:

... in Vietnam ...

I'll post pics for a visual if anyone is interested/curious.
Microgard Select is made either by Vietnam Advanced Filtration Inc (VAFI) or Guangdong Advanced Filtration Inc. out of China. Most would know AFI under their house brand "Premium Guard" label but they private label for quite a few other brands. Generally excellent quality filters.

Current buzz is about the AFI made Carquest EP (Extended Performance) filters now being sold through Advance Auto that have a plastic mesh backed full synthetic media rated 99% @ 25 microns and given a 20K mile service use rating.

Are you referring to the LF 16002 that has Stratapore written/printed on it? If so its not listed on the Fleetguard web page as being one, so if it is true that IMO make the LF16002 oil filter that much better. If its printed on the filter can you post a photo of it? I know a small amount about Stratapore oil filters as I have used them off an on since 2006 on Cummins engines

I did not see LF 16002 listed as "Stratopore" either on their website. It was listed as "premium", whatever that's supposed to mean.

I did not see a description of the media type, either.

I believe lf17539 cross references to the royal purple 20-500 but more research is needed to confirm if its stratspore or not. I believe it is since it lists efficiency as 90% at 23 microns i believe. Another version i found is 30% at 25 microns lol

Wow. I just measured the boxes for the RP 20-820 and
the Purolator Boss PBL24651, both filter boxes are perfect 4" cubes,
and the filters inside fill the boxes.

I didn't measure the RP 20-500 but set beside the others it appears to be
about 1.5" longer, maybe a full 2"?

The filter in @Travis8352 link lists as 4" by 6", and although it looks
and reads awesome, I don't think I would want to be the one trying
to make it fit, or trying to remove one filled with oil on our already
cramped 5.7L spaces.

@Curmudgeon

From Post #712

RP 20-500 dimensions:
Royal Purple 20-500
Gasket I.D. 2.350 in.
Gasket O.D. 2.720 in.
Canister O.D. 2.980 in.
Canister Height 4.500 in.
25 micron @ 99%

Fleetguard LF17539
Gasket I.D. 2.43 in.
Gasket O.D. 2.73 in.
Canister O.D. 2.92 in.
Canister Height 4.83 in.
21.00 micron (c) @ 90%

Fleetguard filter is the same diameter and similar gasket, a third of an inch longer, it would fit my 6.4L Hemi. Filtration specs are similar.

@Travis8352 how or why did you start going with Fleetguard, now that they're owned by some conglomerate?

Well the wix xp was what i used amd since they switched to a blend ive been using the purolator boss filter. But when ordering oil and fuel filters for my 12 valve i decided to toss a lf16002 in the order just to see one. Well constructed, louvers are the best ive ever seen and i know the efficiency is great. I believe they list it as 100%@25 microns and 92% at 21? I forget

In your opinion is the LF16002 more like OEM 399 size, or more like 20-500 or 20-820 (oversize)?

The LF filters can be found at pretty reasonable prices and I might persuade myself to order 1 or 2 to try.
Even though I already have at least 5 years worth of the 20-820

It's a sickness, I'll admit it. :Big Laugh:

You moved up in the world! From the old independent test data, WIX and PB were rock catchers. The spec sheet data on the LF's indicate they are high efficiency.

Where you getting your Fleetguard stuff from?

@Curmudgeon LF16002 is oversize diameter, like RP 20-820.

I think i ordered from cummins.com. Nashnative on bobs (fleetguard executive) posted that the amount of fake fleetguard filters out there is astronomical so i decided just to go right from cummins
