How are K&N oil filters in comparison to that of WIX XP, FRAM and Bosch?

I don’t trust anyone after they’ve lied to me.

K&N is dishonest about what they promote. While the claim that their air filters will “boost” performance… they do that by failing to mention that they accomplish that by reducing filter effectiveness. An even BETTER “boost” of performance would occur with No Filter At All!

(A more-honest statement by them would be “K&N filters trap fewer harmful dirt particles because they have larger voids in the media.” … and “our filters get better and better the longer you leave them in-situ” …. (because, like most filters, the dirtier they get the more dirt they trap…. but, of course, that identical claim is also valid with every other mfr’s filters.)

None of their filtration products are as trustworthy as OEM and many higher-end aftermarkets such as Fleetguard, Purolater, and even Fram. I will trust ANY Fram before I ever will install a K&N.

Question was about K&N.

What happened @ WIX? 1st Reports were Mann Hummel cheapened them?
Efficiency got better but they switched to a blended media but they sure advertise is as a super awesome fantastic media. Some sort of resin impregnated microglass blended media that doesnt require metal backing. A 10 year project at wix they claim

Notably zero about associated flow restriction or contaminant capacity.

Pick one needed performance criteria, tout it, ignore any others isn't good engineering, just b.s. distracting marketing hype to an uneducated general public. No wonder society's in trouble.

I get the same impression about the Fleetguard oil filters I just bought, but at this advanced point in our societal decay, I'm mostly reduced to just finding a product at all, anymore.

What color is the media, sounds like m1 filters to me. As you probably recall it finished 3rd in GM test and is a blend, but then again those numbers are when new, as we know blended filters will stiffen just like paper. Do you have any more info trav...

Sounds like puro boss might be the only one left standing on car parts shelf filters. I cant believe the direction this is going, you cant tell me it costs 5 bucks more for spun glass over blend, and that is what CO's are getting for spun glass give or take. You are going to make more money on high end filters, clearly a % of consumers WILL pay. Freak'n Jay Pan, everything will be built to break and there will be no other options in everything. What is isht show.

lol, Travis was right and so was Burla. 20k miles my ass, what a bad joke. hopefully Fram makes a comeback, that is still on the table I think. But with champ labs down for good, maybe no fe2, but maybe we can get ultra back? Wix XP is worse not better.

The new
WIX XP oil filter media
features a high-performance blend of cellulose fibers, micro glass, and resin, designed without wire backing for increased strength and durability. This updated media offers 50% more efficiency than previous versions, providing 99% dirt-holding capacity and supporting up to 20,000 miles of severe driving condition

Seems like the next thing we'll see is engine oil filters built in to the
engine and we'll have to replace the oil pan with it.
So, most folks won't even think about it, 2-year leases will become
the only way to survive, and there will be no more oil filters anywhere.

Pessimistic? Me?? LOL.

what the hell is wrong with you? Don't give them any ideas man. truly we live in a society where ridiculous people make a statement, and then it becomes authoritarian law. Look at the march to thin oils, prime example, not even woke Europe follows what they started with this thin oil isht. But USA wont stop, just imagine when these panikans get back in power and they will, what's next.

Moving around some Fram XG2 filters and noticed one of the boxes was slightly bigger. Took it out and sure enough. Three of the four I have are the smaller ones. Anyone seen this before?
I think they call is shrinkflation ie the make the product a bit smaller yet charge the same an claim its some new improved technologie ;)

Yes. Are the baseplates/inlet holes the same? Some of the FRAM Titanium filters on clearance at AAP are like this. If they have an obvious Champ baseplate, they are sometimes smaller cans than the others.
