Moving around some Fram XG2 filters and noticed one of the boxes was slightly bigger. Took it out and sure enough. Three of the four I have are the smaller ones. Anyone seen this before?
I love the clean work bench, I don't think mine was that empty even when new :hidesbehindsofa:

So I guess K&N are no good then.

They're a nice placeholder for a filter. But they don't filter wear particles, no. That's why K&N advertises low flow restriction. Again - picked ONE of the three important filtration criteria and harp on it for suckers.

lol, Travis was right and so was Burla. 20k miles my ass, what a bad joke. hopefully Fram makes a comeback, that is still on the table I think. But with champ labs down for good, maybe no fe2, but maybe we can get ultra back? Wix XP is worse not better.

The new
WIX XP oil filter media
features a high-performance blend of cellulose fibers, micro glass, and resin, designed without wire backing for increased strength and durability. This updated media offers 50% more efficiency than previous versions, providing 99% dirt-holding capacity and supporting up to 20,000 miles of severe driving condition
I only do 5K ref OCI> Last one was actually 3,200 cause it was based on time and not mileage. I wouldn't leave an oil filter on that long on my lawn mower, lmao.

What color is the media, sounds like m1 filters to me. As you probably recall it finished 3rd in GM test and is a blend, but then again those numbers are when new, as we know blended filters will stiffen just like paper. Do you have any more info trav...

I found a video of the new wix xp. Its a used filter cut open but its done on a 5.7 hemi that ran redline 5w-40. It also includes the used oil analysis

Do you think a year ago is current enough, Travis? I know Mann+Hummel bought Wix a while ago, 2016 or such. But I don't track what all these corporations are doing to each other and when as a habit, so....?

Yes as that is when the xp was redesigned. I noticed the redesign 2 years ago when some of the new ones started trickling in. I noticed as i went to buy one and saw it said 20,000 miles

I didn't catch if he showed time in service, I saw the miles.
Not sure i wanna say he said 5500 miles but unsure of time. I think the XP may be a good filter for those of us not named burla who did not think ahead and buy some 20-820s in bulk. But its not an eao11 or a 20-820

If anybody wants to go for it, I've made 2 separate purchases from these folks. They processed my order, shipped it out, and I had it in my hands in about 4 days. Royal Purple 20-820. The last filter in my truck and the current one are from these folks. Unfortunately it seems to be a USA-only shipper.

In our defense, allow me to say I don't think any of us expected a total industry shutdown of this magnitude. Normally, some cherry picker buys the assets for pennies on the dollar and leaves the dumb banks that loaned previous owner financier hucksters out to dry.

But that hasn't happened here. And may never. We're in a brave new world of economic decline.

when this shakes out we should do a list of the best blended filters because there is only one synthetic left not on shaky ground, for now anyhow. I can say that one review wasn't very positive on other areas of the filter. Even made in Mexico appeared to be chinesium quality, but it was only one review.

I agree and its sad to see some former synthetic media filters "improving" to a blend. The only reason i think the XP is an improvement is due to the much improved efficiency

In case you haven't already, sign-up with an email and create a password? They only use it to send you updates on your order.

EDIT: Yep, I just tried it without logging in and I saw exactly what you saw.

EDIT - EDIT: Well that's interesting. I can't progress past the shopping cart either. I'm going to re-start my laptop. I have a ton of "blockers" attached to Firefox...
