Oil Pressure Gauge

I have a question for y'all my oil pressure gauge doset flucuate based upon RPM and engine temperature it always stays just past the middle line. Now my dads Hemi Ram use to do the same thing until the CEL came on and it required a new Oil Pressure Sending Unit. Upon replacing the unit his gauge will flucuate based upon RPM and Engine Temp just like any oil pressure gauge I've ever seen. So is it normal to just stay in one spot and if so can I buy a new sending unit to allow the gauge to flucuate and give me an accurate reading of oil pressure?

That is just a dummy gauge. It should not move unless your pressure is below a safe level. I actually never understood why Dodge put it there without making it a true functioning gauge.

But why does my dads work like that then. His will go to the high mark if you hammer on it when it's cold at idle it'll drop and when it's warmed up and driving it'll go to the normal level?

What year is his? I think they changed the actual sender in them. I know from 03-05 the 5.7 oil gauge reads dead center unless the oil psi drops under 5 psi.

He has an 07 and I have an 06

My 2006 flucuates accordingly.

2ND Gens fluctuate. My 05 Doesn't. My 2001 Dakota did.
