New here and am just looking for help with my oil pressure.
I've notice over the last two months that my oils pressure upon start up and up until completely warmed up sits above half on the gauge closer to the 3/4 line. While moving after completely warmed up it still sits over half. When dropped back down to idle it sits on half. Just looking for some clarification to what the issue could be.

Thanks

Oil pressure sensor is probably hooped.Mine went out at 28,000,and started doing the same as yours, reading higher then normal pressure. They're easy to swap out.

That is normal. Your oil pressure will fluctuate because of many factors; cold oil is more resistant to flow=higher pressure. The oil pump is powered by the engine. When there is higher RPM (while driving), the pump is trying to force more oil through the same journals, which also creates more resistance to flow=higher pressure.

Your oil pressure should always be at it's lowest while idling at operating temperature because the oil is it's thinest and the pump is turning it's slowest and therefore outputting its least amount. I don't see any issue at all with what you're describing.

The sensors are known to give trouble, the new one you get at the dealer is supposedly an updated/better quality sensor. They'll slowly start reading higher then normal pressures, mine even had a couple times where it was showing just under 90psi hot and idling, that's when I stuck a new one in it,and it's been good ever since. The dealer usually has them in stock, which tells you, that even the dealers know they give trouble, otherwise it wouldn't be a stocked item, lol
