Not too long ago I went from my '98 12 valve to '22 1500 5.7 non-etorque and going from a purely mechanical diesel to a computer on wheels scared the crap out of me. The '22 still had the factory warranty and after following the cummins forum for years and joining the ram forum I decided to purchase an extended warranty from granger for piece of mind and realizing my age and health have put my wrench pulling days behind me. My question is, has anyone experienced warranty claim issues because they used a different oil viscosity than what is on the dip stick and stated in the owners manual? So far I have followed the dip stick and manual recommendations.

Technically they could waive warranty repairs if the vehicle was not maintained in accordance with the manufacturer's recommendations.

I'd suggest you read the warranty exclusions for specifics on the Grainger product.

As touchy as the market has become with warranty issues, I would be hard pressed to not follow the recommendations in the manual. I basically have started just taking my vehicles after all these years, to dealer for oil changes. That way its on record they changed it, and they have my max care extended warranty on file too. Since I dont drive that much, its a once a year service visit.
