Limited slip diff should be standard on all trucks, also wish they had a dummy light for the rear sliding glass, i cant remember how many times i have left it open.
Amen! Can't believe my truck doesn't have a LSD. So far only issue has been in the rain. Hunting season starts shortly...might be @ 4wheelparts soon...

And a ding or something would be nice, I left mine open recently. Luckily no rain that night...

My 98 SLT 1500 had it, my 04 Dakota had it, but my 08 Laramie 1500 didn’t have the limited-slip but I was always under the impression that it was because of the Electronic Stability Program it had. But then again, my new 18 1500 has traction control, and the limited slip so go figure. lol.

I know its been explained a few times, but the electronic limited slip just gives you 1wd, but its the 1 wheel with better traction. Its an open diff so only 1 wheel is driven. Applies brakes to the slipping wheel so the wheel with better traction turns instead. Actual limited slip and the electronic lockers drive both wheels.

Sooo, what has electronic limited slip? I’m pretty sure my 08 didn’t have it.

Its the traction control and electronic stability cutting power and applying braking electronically to get as much traction as it can with what it has.

Still doesn’t necessarily answer my question, or I’m just not fully understanding you but are you saying that the LS on my new 18 is like this, or it was like this on my old truck? I know the old one had that trailer sway control stuff that if like a trailer you’re pulling starts to sway or fishtail that the ESP on the truck would start grabbing each rear brake individually to compensate for it.

Your old truck if it didn't have the limited slip was like that. Your new one is also like that, but has more to work with since the diff has the ability to drive both rear tires simultaneously whereas an open diff only drives 1 at a time

Well see, that’s why I was confused as to why my new truck can have both limited slip and traction control at the same time because since I figured the reason why my old one didn’t have those two at the same time was because, how is the limited slip supposed to lock in both wheels if the traction control is trying to lock up one of spinning rear wheels so that it can put power to the other one that has traction.

The LSD in the 4th gen 1500s is a clutch style lsd which requires an additive when changing fluid. The 2500s use a torsen style lsd which doesn't have clutches and uses regular hypoid oil, no additive needed.

I know my 1500 has open diffs but for what I need the traction control works fine.

Still tries to limit wheel spin when you break traction even though you have more of it and will still attempt to keep the truck tracking in a straight line vs fishtailing.

They should make them all torsen style. I used a torsen type in my 4th gen Z28 when my clutch type wore out after using synthetic gear oil. It was much better, held up at the track and wasn't noisy at all.

No thanks on the turbos. Turbo lag sucks. Ford minimized it by running their turbos at 200000, (yes that's two hundred thousand ) Rpm. My son in laws father works at a Ford dealerships sevice dept and says they replace a lot of them. Part cot is $1200+ each then add labor. I'll take my NA hemi any day over that.

I agree. I too would much rather have the Hemi (V8). Coming off of 2 turbo 4s, I'd also much rather have a V6 over a turbo 4 (unless you plan to mod it a lot -- but then reliability is even worse yet).

Mine fits pretty tightly against the step, perhaps a 1/8" gap. I have a 2018 Power Wagon, with the exhaust exiting out on the passenger side. My step is on the driver's side. Works great, but not totally hidden like the side steps. There has to be something for your foot to contact in order to pull it down for use.

Buying an unsold new 2017 last April, I got the mechanical options I wanted but it didn’t have a CD player. Not a huge deal by any means.

These are not a big deal but nice to have.

Blind spot monitors on side mirrors, front camera, adaptive cruise control

The new ram has picked up quite a few new features. Wish they weren't packaged like they are because some of the features I prefer not to have, but are packaged with things I do want. Laramie trim seems to be the most flexible for options.
