2016 was the last year in the US, option was gone for 17. How do I know. Well a 16 Outdoorsman is sitting in my driveway, bought new in PA.
.
I blame autocorrect for being off a year...lol
Seems like there is a lot of Outdoorsman from PA.. that's actually where mine was from, did a new vehicle transfer as the combination I was looking for is rare(CC w/6.4' 4X4 EcoDiesel).

I thought I read the warranty may be able to be transfered if it was a fleet vehicle???

Many people have been burnt by a not transferable warranty for import vehicles and I know for a fact it states right in the Mopar extended warranty that they are not eligible for a warranty.

Get the VIN# and call Chrysler Cares. Funny thing is I talked to 5 different people there and 4 told me it could be transferred but the first person I talked to told me it couldn't. My VIN came up in kilometers before they transferred it. The dealer did it over the phone (maybe because they knew me). I called initially and she asked how many miles were on it. Told her about 8200 and she said it gave her an error saying it didn't have enough miles. I called back with about 9400 miles and she punched it in and it went through. I waiting a couple days and called a different dealer and asked them to pull it up. They said there was no metric (kilometers) listed and no indication that it was from Canada. I asked them if I brought it in for warranty work do they see anything that would cause an issue. Their response was not from what they could see.

So I took mine in for an oil change a few weeks ago. Truck had 15,050ish miles on it. When I got home I looked at the receipt and it said original miles unknown. Current miles 14,500. I called to ask about that and they said they plugged it into their computer and my truck actually had 500 miles less than the odometer read. She told me a guy had brought a Jeep in that had came from Canada. It had an American cluster in it but the lights quit working so he brought it in. The warranty covered it as he had it transferred like I did but the dealer was required to put a kilometer cluster back in. Guy wasn't happy but she said that's how Chrysler handles that.

My '12 Outdoorsman is an SLT, equipped with remote start, nav, leather wrapped steering wheel and 32 gal gas tank. (and I'm in PA, not CA)

In about 2 years when the wife's Highlander is paid off, It'll be Power Wagon time. :)

So I started a chat on the ram truck build site and asked if a Canadian warranty is transferable to the US. He said no. I asked if there was a way a warranty could be purchased and again he said no.

Again, I'm pretty bummed as this rig had everything I wanted and a very good price. Luckily I'm in no rush so I'll just keep looking.

I did find a 19 "Harvester" model near me, that looks like it's pretty much the Outdoorsman package with 3.92's. Problem was is it's black and has the 5'7" bed. I really do not want a black truck and need the bigger bed.

Not gonna settle. I'll find the exact truck I want. I'm in no hurry.

Thank you all for the very useful posts.

hmmm. I did a search for aftermarket warranties a couple days after i bought mine and called the first one that came up. i explained its a canadian vehicle and he said it didn't matter. and why would it? if a private company wants to sell you 'insurance' to pay for your repairs how can Chrysler deny it? And all of my research says differently on transferring the warranty. I have not had to use mine but have talked to at least 10 sources and only 1 told me you could not transfer it. Even was told stories by service managers about ones that were transferred. Only thing I can think is maybe they changed their policy? I would call Chrysler Cares and ask them. There were 2 codes. One was transferrable and the other wasn't. They were 59*. Maybe 596 and 598? Can't remember but they id say most are transferable.

Eventually the basic warranty expires regardless of where you buy the vehicle. If you really want the vehicle as it has all options you want and the only sticking point is the warranty, question is if that is reason enough to not buy it. What if you bought it and no work that might be warranty related is required, you would be happy. Don't remember if it is at a Ram dealer up there, but you could buy with a condition that they first do a complete inspection and fix anything they find. It might cost you a bit for the inspection but it is always good to get such an inspection done so if nothing else you have a bit more piece of mind. It seems from this thread you can buy an aftermarket warranty if you want so there is that. Good luck.

If the Outdoorsman comes with the air-lift suspension, I've heard repeated comments in cold northern climates the system doesn't work. That's why I ordered my Tradesman without it, but got the other goodies (diff, skid plates, tow hooks, etc.).

I'm heading to look at a 2018 1500 Outdoorsman tomorrow morning. It has the crew cab, Hemi, 4x4, tow package with 3.92 gearing and 6.4 bed. Has just under 15 thousand miles on it.

Where does the Outdoorsman package fall in the lineup? Above a Tradesman, under a big horn? Over the big horn but under the Laramie? I ask because I wanna know what to price it at. They want $26,500. Is this a good price? Good package for this truck?

Thanks.

The Outdoorsman was not as nicely equipped in 2018 as it was in the US in 2016.
The 18 is pretty basic in stock form.
If you want to compare standard equipment just google

2018 ram 1500 brochure canada

and look at the first link which should take you to the actual 2018 canadian brochure.

Actually a nice way to see the standard and optional equipment on most models and years.

Well Thank everyone for the very helpful insites and suggestions. I called a warranty company today and was able to locate a bumper to bumper warranty for an additional 100,000 miles with a $100.00 deductable for the outdoorsman in PA. In the meantime I checked out a nice 2018 Big Horn about an hour from me in west NJ and wound up buying it. Really nice truck. Hemi, 3.92's, crew cab, 6.4 bed, 20" rims, dual exhausts and a moonroof with 30,000 miles with the Granite Crystal Metallic Clearcoat paint. Stunning paint job in the sun.

Anyway Thanks again. I'll try to upload some pics.

Glad I could help, it might be a trouble free truck, but I would imagine you wouldn't be very happy if you weren't told up front and actually needed something.
That works both ways, a few yrs ago when I got a new Honda for "her" , there was a dig deal of Canadians buy U.S. because of the exchange rate, or what ever, No warranty in Canada on US honda's

Thanks. They really are identical other than color. The window stickers are identical as far as options go. Prices were slightly different, I assume caused by price fluctuations. Funny thing, when my son went to get his I went to the same place I got mine and they also had the electric blue there too. Checked the VIN and it was1 number off from mine so they were back-to-back on the assembly line. That one had too many knicks and dings though.

The wife likes chrome. Me, not so much. I was actually leaning towards the Outdoorsman, although I didn't have a chance to see or drive that rig. Pretty much the truck I needed. Bare bones with stuff I've been searching for. Smaller rims, no dual exhausts BUT it had the larger fuel tank and what I really like, the color matched factory fender flares. I knew I was done for when the salesman pulled this truck around and she said "Thats the one". Really a nice truck. Almost too nice. lol

Get rid of the chrome grille and door handles and you have an Outdoorsman :) Just like Dhay's trucks.

Debadging helps also - as well as keeps it clean longer, well at least here. I would get dirt streaks after a rain or heavy dew below the badges.

My Outdoorsman has the chrome bumpers but black door handles and body color grille - currently a 2018 Sport grille vs. the original.
