Got this Ram with 211,000 mi on it last week. It's running beautifully, aside from this tick. But what do I gotta do to keep this truck running forever?

what year? from what I've been reading, some people have luck getting rid of the "Hemi tick" with synthetic oils. redline is the one I've heard does the trick. I've yet to change my oil, the truck is still pretty new to me, but I'm going to start out with Mobil 1 full synthetic and go from there and see what changes if anything

I'm dropping the oil the day after thanksgiving, doing a coolant flush too. I cleaned up the top of the engine and components under the hood today to get a good look at the condition of everything. Other than gasket leaks it's in really good shape. I'm foreseeing some issues but I was planning on beefing up the airflow anyway, so some repairs and upgrades are no big deal. Looking forward to them actually. This is my first Dodge.

Welcome to the Ramily. Redline oil erased my lifter tick, it has super high moly which coats the lifters when they are dry at startup. If you were thinking of conventional oil, penzoil yellow bottle also has high moly. You are however in the wrong gen, go to the next forum down. Those guys will be more familiar with your Magnum then us. There are a few reasons why these engines tick, not sure if the magnum have the same, I kind of doubt it.
