There is a problem somewhere in the wiring in my overhead console and the right map light doesn't light up, it is covered by my extended warranty so the dealer ordered me a new one but they want to charge me for the labor on something I could do in less than two minutes is there anything I should do before I remove the old one and replace it myself?

If it's just the map light, and nothing else, then I'd say just replace it yourself. It's simple. A couple torx screws inside the map lights, and a clip on the backside, and it drops down.

There's no voltage so I took it down and tried to find where it loses voltage and I couldn't.

None of the wires have a short? So, theres no power coming through the plug that matches up with that map light? Or is the switch to the map light just broken?
