P0106 code… Please read entire post before commenting.
2015 ram 2500 Cummins one day started getting lots of power and would not rev past 2000 RPM when tank was low. I filled the tank thinking it was just sediment in the bottom and changed the filters which did not solve the problem checked codes and had a bunch of different codes relating to turbo speed, EGR, air leak in intake and a bunch of other things. Took EGR apart and it was very clean. I cleaned it anyway and replaced the solenoid. I was figuring it was possible that all the codes relating to turbo speed and air leak were due to bad fuel and the truck being de fueled due to bad fuel, and possibly the PCM was reading throttle position and thinking that there should’ve been more air coming in due to the throttle position. After doing this cleared codes and I think it was fine for a day till the code came back up, but I didn’t lose power. I figured at this point now. It was just a bad MAP sensor so I ordered from Amazon and replaced the sensor on the air box that made things worse. I figured it was because it was a cheap Chinese sensor so I ordered what was supposed to be a genuine Cummins off eBay and it caused the same issue. I ended up cleaning the factory MAP with MAF cleaner and it was good for a day till the code showed up again this reinforced my thought pattern that it was a bad sensor so rather than go through guessing what was a genuine Cummins and what was fake I went to the dealer and ordered a $150 unit. Excited winning arrived. I went home and put it on only to find it through more codes and was now derating again. Back-and-forth with the dealer because not sure it could’ve been the MAP or the TMAP and many people say they are different sensors although one guy at the dealer said using my VIN it was showing the same replacement part which ended in 091AD for both. I then had the parts manager tell me that they are not the same and many articles that I researched claim also, they are different units. The sensor in my airbox was Cummins number 289-7332 and the number in my intake was 289-7333. So since they were different numbers, I thought maybe they are different pieces so I tried the new one in the intake and put the original one back in the box… Same problem. So now I put the new one in back in the box and put the one from the box in the intake… Same problem. Now at this point, I don’t know what to do so I Google part number 289-7333 and 2897332. 7333 comes up as a cross to a MOPAR part number that ends in 091AD and also says it can be used as a replacement for Cummins number ending in 7332. Googling 7332 says that its MOPAR replacement number is 091AD thus proving they are both the same sensor. So now since one new sensor in either position didn’t solve the problem. I’m thinking maybe both sensors are bad and both need to be replaced so I end up cleaning both the original sensors and putting them back in their original spots and the loss of power is gone and the truck runs like a ***** ape, but still throws the code so now I’m at a real loss throws the code with original sensor but has power but when replaced with brand new sensors throws code and has loss of power… Wondering if anyone has run into anything like this before. Pretty much stock Truck. Not deleted has a boost fooler and a BD diesel 60 8RFE pressure boosting harness as well as a city diesel billet turbo actuator. The fooler and the pressure harness both connect to the MAP sensor or what the dealer Kohls TMAP… On the intake. I tried both orientations though pressure harness first into the Fooler and also the fooler first into the pressure harness as well as completely disconnecting the fooler none of which changed anything. Also has a TS Stryker module set in full. Other than that pretty much a stock 224,000 mile truck I even took the KNN filter out and replaced with a stock element thinking maybe that was restricting airflow and causing a discrepancy between throttle position and with the mass air flow sensor thought should be going through the engine and that did nothing. The only thing that helped was putting the original sensors back in and dealing with a CEL.
