Went camping over the weekend. Pulling the trailer and got a split in the radiator. Heated up almost to red but I kept pulling over and refilling the radiator till I got to here I was going. Got it home Sunday, changed out the radiator. Having a hell of a time burping it completely. Now yesterday after work I'm getting a rough idle on start, as soon as I step on the gas it clears right up. Then it gave me a p0303. #3 cylinder misfire. What could this be???

If your engine got really hot I would be worried a leaking head gasket or cracked head. Best place to start would be to pull the plug and see if there's any coolant on it. Also check the oil to see if it looks light brown and thick or if there's white smoke coming out of the tail pipe. Some other things that could cause a misfire would be a bad coil pack, fuel injector or a broken valve spring.

Since the misfire was 03 i pulled one of those plugs and it looked pretty good so i pulled one from #4 on the opposite side to make sure it looked exactly the same. I did a cold start this morning and watched the tailpipe and it blew clean for the first, almost minute, then got that cold morning condensation that dissipates about a foot from the tailpipe. Checked the oil and its clean as when I put it in. I'm going to do a sniff test of the coolant tomorrow after work to make sure.
