I have good spark fuel , injector, coil pack and i got the pcm checked by the dealership. I have a 2011 ram 1500 5.7 with 330k km. I have a p0303 misfire I can't figure out. I changed my intake and valve cover gaskets did a leakdown and compression test and vacuum test and everything came back with great results. I hear 0 ticking either. I noticed looking though pictures after I got the valve cover back on that cylinder 3s valve spring and rocker arm sit significantly lower than the others could this be a worn spring? Such a simple fix it hope it is should all the rockers be sitting at the same height?

Cam and lifter job looks to be in your future.

What makes you say that. Could the valve spring potentially be the issue?
Your comment about the rockers on 3 not being the same as the rest, that usually means either the cam lobe or lifter is toast. If you got a little over 200,000 miles out of it,you've done good, time to spend some money on it.
Check your local market place, out here in Alberta you can usually find virtually brand new engines with less then a 1,000 clics on them for about what a cam replacement will cost you.

There seem to be many great deals on Hemi engines in your area.

When you buy pre-enjoyed engines from one of these places, how do you verify that they're not stolen property?

Cops monitor Market Place all the time,so i'd think if they were stolen, you wouldn't see the same guys adverising take out engines for several years in a row, lol. Throw in the fact when's the last time you've seen a local cop crawl underneath your vehicle looking for block numbers.;)You've been reading to many internet stories of stolen hellcat drivetrain swapped 300's south of the border, there's very few Hellcat swapped 300's up here :Big Laugh: Ma Mopar sends quite a few vehicles out here, that are new,but deemed unsellable to a couple of the local guys,as they have the cash to buy them. Natty is one of them,he's actually got the complete drivetrain for sale from a brand new TRX that was deemed unsellable,if you got roughly 40G laying around he'll sell you the engine/transmission and transfer case from it,i think the truck had about "10" kilometers on it when he got it.

I might be being a bit paranoid about this.

As you say, if these suppliers are being watched and regularly selling these engines, chances are pretty strong that it's a safe purchase.

I like this idea of buying an engine from a place such as these suppliers as an alternative to spending the same $ to rebuild my failing engine, if I had a significant engine fault that required a rebuild.

When i was talking about the rocker I only meant that it's on a different angle as scene in the picture there is no jiggle or play in the rocket at all it's tight and snug just the pring it's self looks to be more compressed.

Well it would look compressed if the lifter is on the tip of the lobe.So you didn't actually rotate the engine over with the valve cover off to see if all the rockers are moving roughly the same amount. Usually a broken spring is spotable if you look them over close. You should probably remove that valve cover again, and rotate the engine over while watching the rocker arm movement.

If the spring is sitting more compressed than the other cylinders and it's not from the rocker pushing on it, then it's a good chance the valve seat is dropping and you caught it before it dropped all the way out and became catastrophic.

Whatever you do,"Do Not" go cheap on the lifters, suck it up and buy OEM lifters, otherwise there's a good chance you'll be doing it all over again in short order. I wouldn't even go cheap on the cam,as it's not exactly an easy job to swap another cam in,if your cheap cam goes south.
Post a link to what you're looking at for a cam.
With that many miles on the engine,i'd seriously look at putting a new /low milege engine in the truck if it's in decent shape with no rust or electrical issues.
If there's nothing on your local marketplace for low milege used engines, the links i gave you above, will probably ship you an engine from Alberta. Punch in 5.7 Hemi engines into your local market place and see what pops up

They don't say much about where the cam is manufactured at,or whose cam it is,but at that price i'd be a bit leary of that kit.If you do decide to go with it,i wouldn't use the lifters that are included.

Could it be a leaking valve stem seal even though the leakdown test and compression test where good ? Here's a picture of the valve and cylinder for 3 the misfiring culprit.1000002075.jpg1000001915.jpg1000001915.jpg

Pull that valve cover again, and either jump the starter relay,or have somebody turn the engine over on the key while you watch the rocker arm movement. I think you're grasping at straws with your ideas of what causing your misfire, there's a very good chance you've fallen victim to the infamous bad cam/lifters the hemi has a rep for.

i love how people get here after having done some diagnostics, and this guy is even better than the average joe most people that come here haven't done half the checking he has, and yet time after time they refuse or are unwilling to accept the facts that they themselves have laid out are pointing to cam/lifters...

im suprised the dealer that did the checking didnt mention this was a possibility.
they must not need the work lol
