So I have started modding my 18 Ram. Looking to get headers, summit has these for $360. I was wondering if anyone has these? Looking for info on quality, fitment, and performance gains. Thanks

American Racing Headers (ARH) are the ones to get...you won't get them for $360 though. You get what you pay for.

Not the greatest of quality. I highly recommend American Racing Headers. If you want to go cheaper the cheapest brand that I can still say is decent is JBA, BUT I highly recommend ARH over them. Fitment and quality is way better with the ARH. Some other good options are AFE, Kooks, and stainless works but ARH is the BEST!

Contact me for pricing on any of these that I mentioned. We can offer you great special forum pricing

Did you lose torque on the low end with headers? I know it will pick up mid and upper rpm.

Any torque loss is negligible. Unless your turning your truck into a race truck I don't think it will be a problem for your application. Remember you are talking about a 5500 pound brick. LOL

That's my point. When the curve is moved up to mid and upper rpm, down low is where it's lost. Any dyno graphs?
I want to know where the power is being made. :driver:

I haven't seen any dyno numbers below 3000 RPM......so would be hard to say.

Some good info on the myth that backpressure is wanted for low-end torque:

I put the ARH long tubes on mine with the high flow cats. Im also using a magaflow muffler and still have the stock exhaust tips on with the resonators. Im real happy with the fit and build. OH btw they make your truck much more louder. The gaskets that ship with these are also pretty good.

If you go the long tube route, make sure you tie up all loose wires next to the collectors. Go a step further and spend the time and wrap your headers and wrap all the wires and fuel lines that are close to the pipes. Mine came with a shifter cable relocation bracket also.

If you get the hi flow cats, the kit will come with O2 extender harnesses.

The install was not too difficult. you will need a good 10mm box end wrench with a swivel head. That was a life saver for me. You will have to pull the dipstick tube out. One bolt holds it to the block and a bracket up top. it can be stubborn but take your time and wiggle it. BP Blaster or WD40 helps.

I reinstalled my original dipstick tube and bent the mounting bracket up top and fastened it to the valve cover bolt that has the stud on it. you dont want the tube lose and tapping on the headers. This will cause the sensors to pick up a knock.

Jack the truck up high so you have room to work.
Take off the tires and wheel liners. This will be helpful.
An assistant will make the install go smoother too.

Enjoy your new power and apologize to your neighbors in advance ( I leave for work at 5:30 AM). i have to idle out of the neighborhood.

Save your money and just go with JBA long tubes. Half the price of ARH, and there are zero figment issues with 1 5/8”. Only fitment issues are with 1 7/8”.
