PCM question

I am considering a tuner and would like to keep my OEM PCM but dont want to pay the big money for another PCM .My truck is an 18 1500 4wd 5.7 could I get a PCM say out of a 3.6 and use that for the exchange

Would that be any cheaper than a PCM from a 5.7?

I would assume like for like but better to ask the company you plan on buying from. What are your plans for the truck. What’s your price difference between a new one and buying an old one and depending on what you do to the truck it wouldn’t be able to run on the stock computer without codes unless you planning on going back to stock down the road

I found one on ebay for around 130.Not really sure of the best place to buy a new one .I also didnt know if the truck could be returned to stock tune with the modified PCM should the need ever arise.Long term plans are not yet etched in stone but I would love to go with headers and a cam down the road.

I dont know alot about tuners although I did have an I2 on my 12 Challenger SXT.Was thinkin about going with the I3 on the Ram

IMHO--with electronics-cheaper isn't always better. I just bit the bullet and bought the new one from Moe's(Hemifever) so I could change it out if need be.
