Hi,

I have a 2017 Ram 1500 Quad cab. I would like to permanently remove the front passenger seat along with the back seat. Will this create any problems with the air bag system or any other system if I drive around with the seats removed?

TIA, Doug

You'll have a light on in the dash unless you Find an airbag light canceler/resistor of sorts. Wouldn't reccomend messing with things in your own one wrong prod with test light or volt meter and boom.the rest of ur airbags go off.

Thanks for the info I appreciate it. I can deal with a light being on. If I ever put the front seat back in will the light go off or will I have to have it reset at the dealership?

Thanks

It should go off on its own.

As soon as you put the seat back in,and hook up the electrical conectors again, the light and warning will disappear. I pull the pass seat on my truck and the pass seat and run a rear seat delete kit on the wifes Challenger,at the track all the time, and as soon as everything is hooked up again, the light/dash warning disappear. I talked to Ron Silva awhile ago about a seat bypass harness, but never did have him build one for the truck,as it was going to be more money then i wanted to spend just to defeat the dash warning at the track, but if you want a bypass harness,he'll probably build you one.

Might be worth looking into whether the other airbags will still deploy while that light is on.

Thanks everyone for the replies. I am going to do some camping this year and will be turning the back seat into the sleeping area. I will remove the front seat for ease of access to the back.

The front seat should be the only one that should turn the dash warning on.If the rear seat is similiar to the cars rear seat,i don't think it'll turn any warnings on,if it's removed, but that's a guess on my part as my regular cab shortbox doesn't have a rear seat.

I just managed to get this figured out with the help of a service tech. Put a 2.2 ohm jumper between pin 5&6 on the yellow connector under the passenger seat. These are the right seat thorax squib 1 line 1 and line 2 connections. You can buy pre wired jumpers on Amazon if you opt to be lazy like me or buy the resistor and make your own. Be sure to disconnect the battery for 10-15 minutes beforehand. Or let the truck sleep for 10-15 minutes beforehand.

Find a truck in a wrecking yard and cut the female side off the seat then you'd just have to mod it,and plug it in everytime you removed the seat. There's probably a market for such a thing,if you advertised them on the hi-po facebook pages,as there's lots of guys who remove the pass seat for drag racing.

Just add a resistor. YT has good videos on this.
