Hello everyone,

Im currently working on a 360 rebuild, when working on the pistons I noticed that one piston has scoring on top of the top ring, do you guys think i can clean it up and reuse it or should I replace it. All the other pistons are good.

IMHO, That piston is trash. It's got a lot of scoring below the rings as well, and a lot of wear on the skirt.

Replace it and any others with similar damage. As HarryS said, lots of wear on the skirt as well.

x3 agree on 2 past post, replace the piston, if it was minor scoring/scratches on the top, maybe sand and use as the rings are what seals the bore, but if you have to sand the entire piston your clearances will most likely be out of tolerance and the engine could have Piston Slap, the sound it would make is similar to a rod knock, something a lot of Jeep motors use to suffer from. Just replace it.
