I have a 2010 Ram 2500 crew 4x4 that I purchased new. I am just coming up on 60,000 miles and still have the original Michelin LTX OEM tires. They have been awesome but they are done. I am considering the Michelin Defender LTX as a replacement. They are touted as being a highway tire with occasional off-road capability. My truck is driven very little in the winter, and is usually used to haul my 28' travel trailer, my 3 horse trailer, and for fall hunting trips.
My question is: the original tires are 245/70/17. Can I go to 265's on the same factory steel rims or do I have to stay with the original size. And if I can change, what advantages or disadvantages would there be? Such as improved traction, or negatives such as reduced mileage or speedometer issues.
Thanks
