i wanted to go with these also, but discount tire could not get ahold of them so went with the ridge grapplers. if you get them tell us how they perform.

I agree with that. IMO and experience A/Ts are better suited to most driving conditions and some mild to moderate offroading.

My r/t is between the a/t and m/t in the aggressiveness of the tread. I’m impressed in how well they do on road. Im in my truck 75 minutes a day and have to make business related blue tooth calls. Yet, I need aggressive enough tires to work on the farm. They do well off road but are quite as a/t on road.

You have probably been asked this a thousand times. If so Sorry. But. Will the Spare fit in the Well ? Can you Run Chains on those , and still clear ? I'm leaning more towards 35's, instead of 37's for a number of reasons. Thanks in advance.

Yea 35’s are a much better size for a good overall fit IMO. It isnt like 37’s are not doable, they just come with some drawbacks.


I am still running the factory spare tire, so not completely sure. But I have seen enough 35’s up there to know it is possible, although most have to be aired down real low to get them to squeeze up there.


I dont know for sure about the chains either as I have never had a set before. But again, I have seen pics of guys running chains with 35’s. It would have to be a tight fit for sure, though. Certainly will not clear 37’s and chains unless there has been a generous amount of trimming performed.

I just let the truck warn me every time it starts, then get out of the screen. Dosnt really bother me too much.

Too mild of a tread on a lighter 2 ply carcass to get through our rural acreage Springtime mud and rocks here on my PW. I have punctured through my 3 ply carcass Cooper S/T Maxx tire treads on these volcanic rocks. So the Toyo A/T 3's won't be going on my PW, but I have recommended them for a family member's Ram 2500 diesel 4x4 whom is currently running on some worn out Toyo A/T 2's.

I know this is an old post but are you positive the AT3 in 35/12.5-17 is only a 2 ply sidewall? Seems odd that an e rated tire would be 2ply when the C rated at3 in 35/11.5-17 is 3 ply.

I stuffed a new 35 12.50R17 Toyo C/T at 40 PSI in the spare location. That's at full pressure to what I run them at. Other than lightly taking some of the paint off of the rear Trac bar at full articulation, its a tight fit. There's enough room to slide a beer box piece of cardboard vertical between it and the tire. No issues with the sides or trailer hitch mount in mounting it up. I had to reposition the wire harnesses by stuffing them up higher out of the way and fastening them tight with zip ties. Didn't disconnect to do so. Takes some maneuvering to get it into the 34 and 1/8" Trac bar to trailer mount space.

Colorado has a traction code 16 which requires all vehicles to run chains. On both my 285 75R17 and 35 12.50R17 tires I have run Titan steel chains with cam tightners. The parking brake cable had a clearance issue. On my 2016 it is attached to the frame by a wire bracket. Had to bend it way in to give the chains some additional clearance. This style of bracket I believe was redesigned in the newer models. The chains need to be centered on the tire or they will hit the cable. Otherwise, the clearance is 1" when the chains are centered. I use heavy duty rubber tensioners to be certain that the chains stay centered. Haven’t touched it yet even with extreme weather use of tire chains when stuck and spinning in mud and snow with the lockers engaged in 4 low.

Originally wanted Nitto Ridge Grapplers or Toyo at3 but the virus had those on back order. My tire guy really liked these and I’m surprised how quite they are on the highway. Just as quite as the original Duratracs. I am down 1.5 mpg with the 35 over 33 but completely expected that. If I get good tread life, I will stick with these again.

My Ram dealer is running a buy 3 get 1 free sale and it is legit. ie tire prices are not jacked up and same individually as you would get via discount tire or tirebuyer.com etc. I finally asked about the RT and they had 4 of those that they could get. I know on my lighter jeep they did great in most conditions. Hopefully even better on the PW.

My son ran the Toyo AT2 Extreme 285 75R18. He just purchased the Toyo AT3 of the same size and he sent me a photo of the Extremes being a 3 ply. His new ones are 3 ply too. So a 35 12.50R17 AT3 just might be a 3 ply too. Don't know for certain.

Very happy with them. I’ve put about 7,000 on them and about to have the first rotation. As of now, I would highly recommend them.

good deal. What did you end up using for tire height to recalibrate your speedo? On the jeep I was 33.5 but I also only ran 28psi or so. thanks

Taser Ram. I’ve been happy with that too. I was wanting to also turn off the weather alert and run fogs with brights off road.

I already have the AEV Snap (I know they say it won't work but it does and AEV had me bring my truck in to see why some were not working as I live next door to their R&D shop), I was meaning what tire height did you program in. thanks
