So, soon I am going to be beginning more mods for my truck, and I wanted to get a rough idea of the cost of install (I know the cost of the items).

I'm already getting a cold air intake, but that can be done on my own.

So...

1. 4.56 gears on a 2wd

2. LT headers and welding in a new y pipe from the cats.

3. Bigger cam with a custom tune.

What's good for you is your location as you can prob' find a member to assist or do the cam/heads install at a good price.
Send a pm to sawcut64 and he can take care of your cam/tune/headers/exhaust needs and prob find a good deal for gear install.

since your in dfw these prices will be almost spot on

gears-$200-$300 (using dfwram people)

longtube install and welding -$200 or so, my buddy can install them and weld at his house. Wouldnt charge you too much

cam install and tune- SAWCUT64, last time i heard his cam install along with springs and rod replacement is $550. Thats not including any oil, coolant, spark plugs(if you care to change ) nor the cost of the cam and springs/rods

tune- if you want custom tune the cheapest youll get is hemifever and i believ right under 400 for a handheld tuner and unlimited custom tunes via email. Any thing else, like using a diablo and going for a dyno tune near dfw is going to cost you big time.

your prob looking at around 2gs give or take. and thats with finding some hookups....like the guy that is installing my 4.56 gears does them in his garage and charges 200 bucks. Has done a couple of my friends truck and i trust him.

Awesome. I'll check those out. That's actually not near as bad as I was thinking.

i see you already got a diablo so unless you really want to spend a bunch of custom tuning i would go with a comp 260 cam or a cam based on that grind. Found to be the best of both worlds in terms of streetability and performance and doesnt require custom tuning.

There's a place around here that lists a custom tune (with the diablo already in hand) for $250 or so. But I'll check out all options. That's last on the list.

Well if you get all the hookups then your biggest price is going to be parts,

Gears are what around $250 or so + your install cost
headers are around $400-$550 depending on brand + welding of cats if you keep tthem
y-pipe if you want to go that rout is around $150
Springs/rods/cam and crank bolt/gaskets are around $130+/-
cam (unless you find one used) is going to run you $400+ then add the install cost ontop of it.
oils and other fluids
tune, since you have the dsp already, through sean(hemifever) was $250 for unlimited tunes

It gets pricey and fast.

Yeah. That's what I figured. But I'll be saving up a little, doing a mod. Just wanted to know how much to save up over the cost of the parts to get them installed as soon as I have them.

Thanks for the recommendations guys!! Just to clarify, and I would normally do this in PM's, a cam/springs install is $500 and coolant, cam and crank bolts, springs, pushrods would cost around another $140ish depending on exactly what we're doing. The only thing I have the customer supply that I don't is the cam and oil(of your choice). Also I do header installs as well.
