2012 Dodge Ram 1500 Sport
I have a chirping noise coming from the engine. It only seems to do it when it is idling or at least I can only hear it when I sit. I don’t know if a pulley or belt needs replaced? Has anyone came across this problem?

Usually it's the idler or tensioner pulley that starts squeaking first.

You can release tension on the belt, slip it off and rotate each pulley individually to diagnose it.

Also, check the underside of the belt. Make sure it's not glazed, too smooth or cracked.

Also, check for any moisture around the water pump, hoses, and general area. It doesn't take much anti-freeze on a belt to make it noisy.

Found my crank drive pulley and power steer pulley cracked and slipping.
