Not truck related, but for the painters out there I have a question about clear coat.

I've been a wood artist for years and only occasionally use clear coat. Does anyone know if clear coat can go on top of decals?

I laser printed some lettering on clear vinyl label stock for a sign my sister requested. I don't make signs and didn't want to paint the script letters. I have a can of Duplicolor Clear coat.

I was thinking I would put a coat of clear, apply the lettering, and then a top coat of clear for a better match of the gloss so the sheen would be consistent over the label.

I'm not a painter, but if they're quality vinyl letters, they can. You see it ALL the time on motorcycle tanks. They clear over them to protect them from fuel.

You'll need quite a few coats to match the thickness of the decals but it can be done
