Hey all, my radio recently went on the fritz yesterday. It's currently stuck on this screen right now. It was a blue screen first. While on the blue screen I had no controls at all but the radio was still on. Now that it is on this screen, I can change the volume, but that's it. When I switch to reverse the backup camera comes on, however when I switch out of reverse the camera stays on for another minute or two before reverting back to this screen. Another symptom is that even with the truck off, keys out of ignition and door open, the screen will stay on for a minute or two before going off. I tried pulling the fuse (which oddly is not located in the fuse box) for a hard reset, but it didn't fix anything. Any ideas what may be going on, or is the unit shot?

If your truck is not under warranty I would suggest just replacing the radio. You can find used RA2 radios pretty enexpensivly if you look around because a lot of guys replace them with the RA3/RA4 8.4" style radios. Check the forum and Car-Part.com. make sure you get a pic of the radio before you buy it. Some years don't seem to play well with other trucks so try to find one that's the same year as yours if possible with the same number of doors. Changing the actual radio only takes a few minutes. In some cases you will need a security code. You can easily get it from a dealer if you have the Vin# of the truck it came out of or you can get it online for $10 with only the radio part number and serial number. I changed a few for guys and never needed to have a security code for the RA2 but I've seen other say they needed the code.

I figured a replacement was going to be the way to go. Just need to decide if I want to upgrade to the factory 8.4" or go aftermarket.

Chrysler is having massive issues with what appears to be all of the SXM/infotainment systems. There is a class action lawsuit that has been filed against them due to the amount of issues and it appears there is no fix for them. Clearly a design issue. I am battling with them now due to my 12" infotainment center locking up.

The 13 to 17 RA3 and RA4 8.4" radios are pretty solid. The RA2 radios are usually pretty good too. The problems started when they switched to the Panasonic UAS/ UAQ radios in 18 but they have got them pretty well dialed in. The 12" on the other hand is a nightmare. I see post after post with people having issues with them and no fix available. My buddy got a loaded Laramie and opted for the 8.4 just for that reason. Hr has had no issues with it at all. From what I'm hearing they are supposed to be coming out with a different version for 2021 but who knows? It's amazing that they don't do more testing before they release these new radios. It seems like everyone is just trying to beat each other to the punch and not doing enough testing before they are released.

my 2015 Express 4x4 started this this week. I've checked all fuses and inserted correctly. disconnected battery overnight. held both buttons in together to restart, and it keeps shutting down every 5 minutes. I'm looking on this forum right now to replace this radio with Aftermarket. Not doing the 8.4 conversion. just want a simple plug and play slid in. Crutchfield shows a few that fit, other then having to cut the back of dash to fit. Thinking of the alpine model for $250.
