Hello All, chri5k is correct, the whole issue with the drag link is the TURNBUCKLE !!. It appears when some of the turnbuckles were machined the hole was oversized a few thousandth, then when the threads were cut they wound up being to shallow allowing the drag link ends to jump threads inside the turnbuckle, hence giving the illusion that the jamb nut(s) backed off when they had not. The nuts are good so they are using them as an extension of the turnbuckle by doing the welding.

The big problem is FCA does not know when this screw up happened.

I agree this should only be a temporary fix till FCA supplies the new draglink. Or you replace the draglink or turnbuckle and provide proof of said fix to FCA, at which time they should reimburse no questions asked. But we know how that goes.

Crazy Jerry don't call out people unless you KNOW what you are talking about. I got my info from an old friend who works at FCA headquarters.

on friday i had the welded drag link replaced on my 18 2500. replaced with 68338342AD mopar. all good now. ill submit the receipts to ram, but doubt anything will come of it. in principle, welding an adjustable part on a 55k or more truck is beyond embarrassing. i am a small construction business, and can write off the link as vehicle expense. cheers comrades!

If you need any help with the reimbursement, we are happy to look into it for you.

Just wanted to give a "shout out" to Kaitlin @ Ram Cares....

It took a couple of months but I finally received a case number and the replacement drag-link should be at my local dealer in a week or so!

THANK YOU KAITLIN !!!!

Same here, my case was opened around Christmas. I had appt at the dealer this morning to complete other pending recalls.

They confirmed the case was open with FCA, they checked and had an updated drag link already in stock, so they installed it.

Thanks, Kaitlin!!

I brought my 17 PW to the dealership earlier this year because the ram boxes warped. They completed the recall and welded the nuts when I explicitly told them not to touch it. FCA denied my claim for the replacement. They pretty much stuck it in my ass.... no solution. So recently I brought it back for an alignment and they told me an extra $150 to remove the welds and re-weld. They can stick it up their ass this time, I am 100% done with FCA **** products....
Once you drive a 64k truck off the lot, customer service typically sucks. Always an ordeal everytime....

Kaitlin, please help! I just want the new part....

Send Katilin @RamCares a PM with all of your info, and your trucks VIN and I'm confident she will assist in getting yours replaced.

It stinks and I fought this for a year almost but in the end, FCA made it right and replaced my drag link and I'm a happy ram customer again. Good luck man.

And that is why I bought the Synergy drag link. Why should I buy a drag link from the same company that gave us the original junk part? If the new Mopar drag link had problems, too, it would be my own fault for getting it.

What is the difference between the old and new drag link? What changed?

Thanks,

Cool, thanks. Looks like a much better design similar to the synergy link. This should be a no-brainer for FCA to replace all those affected... total BS

How can I get the new drag link. I haven’t took my truck in for the recall because I don’t want it welded.

Send a PM to Katilin @RamCares and she will assist you.

You will need to provide her with your full name and mailing address, your local dealer name and the VIN of your truck. Good luck! She's great and has helped many of us get the defective link replaced.
