I've been running the 93 octane performance tune since I got my cortex tuner, tonight I re tuned installing the economy tune for gas milage. As it was installing I was sitting there thinking I wonder how much power ill be losing and how sluggish it will be.

The truck actually runs alot better, and feels like it has more power with this tune, I haven't done any runs yet but I'm positive my 0-60 will end up being the same if not a little quicker.

Can anybody explain this to me? There is a big power difference between the 2 tunes according to superchips, but what I'm feeling and experiencing is not adding up..

Could be a similar issue to what the hemi guys are dealing with. The more aggressive tunes have extra timing built in, and if the motor is not getting enough fuel to match it, then it actually causes a loss of power. I'm willing to bet that if you try running 87 octane with the economy tune, you will feel that power go away.

Interesting. I really need to look into a a/f ratio gauge so I can see where I'm at. I filled up with mid grade, there is a definite power difference, now I just can't wait to see what the gas milage does. If I I can get 16 with the a/c on running around town ill be more than happy

I run the 91 tune with 93 octane. When I was running the 93 tune my idle would jump about 100 rpm then drop a 100 rpm almost felt like it was gonna die. Switched to the 91 tune and she idles great now. And it seems there's a little more power too.

One thing I did notice after I installed the 93 tune, on every startup when it first revs up to 1500ish and then comes back down to idle, the exhaust would flutter/slightly pop maybe. Now with this tune it no longer does it. I'm assuming its due to timing?

Is mid grade ok with the economy tune or will I get the most out of it with 93?

Try the mid grade. If you feel the performance drop, then I would stick with the 91/93 fuel.
