Hi everyone, working on a work truck its a 97 dodge ram 2500 tug, the U-bolts on the rear axle broke and shifted the axle. I was able to have some custom made by a shop here in town. I replaced all 4, inspected the blocks and pins and everything looked good. Drove the vehicle back to shop and every time there is slight pressure on the brakes, the rear end feels like its locking up and people have told me the axle looks like its shifting.
Dropped the axle again, cleaned the mating surface of everything, re installed all components removed drums and inspected the brakes, cleaned everything and reinstalled. still does it. I have checked the bushings in the leaf spring for play but everything seems like its in ok shape (for a 30 yr old vehicle)
Few things I think it might be that I would appreciate input on:
-the spring seat and Ubolts might not be a perfect fit.
-the spring plate is slipping on the axle, It did appear to have a crack in it (looking into new ones currently)
any thoughts on this one? im stumped!
