I just accidentally assaulted a small tree while trying to back out of a tight parking space, in a too-crowded grocery store parking lot, full of panicked coronavirus toilet paper hoarders, while it was raining. The tree was so mad it tossed a pine cone on the roof of my cab :D

Bumper knocked in some, just touching the body (only a small nick), and this smooth dent formed. I had an Amp Research tailgate step on that side, and when I took it off the bumper sprung out, so instead of even trying to mess with the bent bracket I used a couple large nuts as spacers, and re-attached it, and it's actually just about right now.

Just wondered if anyone has any hints for popping that dent out? Once I get that fairly well fixed, I'll put the step back on, but with it off I can access the area behind the dent. Didn't even try tonight, as it's rainy and cold, and figured I'd just make it worse.

No but seriously you should be able to push that out with a dowel or a two by two.
You'll be fine.

I know, first world problems. I actually laughed when it happened and the pine cone hit my roof, then bounced on the hood. Also didn't get any TP. I walked in the store and it was so crowded with long lines, I left empty-handed.

But for real if you have any mechanical Ingenuity this bumper is a super easy fix.
Just diligently smack it with a 2×2 or something similar. Little by little you will get good results.

It cost 7 Grand to fix!!! I have plenty of videos on that if you have the attention span....

I did watch some of your videos, very good stuff, but sorry about the expense! Before I bought this Ram 2 years ago I considered putting a Jasper engine in my old 300,000 mile F150. I researched them and know how they fix chronic factory engine issues. Good company IMO. Been real happy with the Pentastar though. Little bumps and bruises like this bumper ding don't bother me much, just as long as the powertrain stays solid. I like to keep it looking nice though, even though it's primarily a work truck.

I'm going to do that, but take some time to make a smooth, rounded surface on the wood, like the body tools you can buy. Don't need it perfect, but I think I can get it looking pretty good. BTW I work with my hands for a living, so improvise and solve problems on stuff like this daily. Just like to seek advice/hints when I can. Never hurts.

I hear you brother!
Your issue is an easy fix. I feel the same about my truck. Which is why i made the decision to drop $7000 to keep her...
It's not just a truck to me. I feel like it's not just a truck to most of us!
Which is why we go to the lengths we do to keep her in tip top and why we care so much.....
Lot of words and feelings, sorry [emoji23]

In your case, with the miles on the old engine, and being THE truck for you, I get it. Hoping that Jasper keep purring! :D

Get a piece of pine about 2X2 and round off the edges so there are no sharp corners, lightly hammer the dent out watching as you go. If you can get the wood shape close to the contour of the bumper, so much the better. It should come out reasonably well except the area at the top where the angle is. That will be more difficult and use a smaller piece or wood there.
Remember hit it lightly, I got most of one out of my 14 Sport that way.

If you can't get behind it, removing the bumper will help. Put it face down on foam or something that will conform to the bumper shape.
