I purchased my truck used in April and never noticed the rear window frame cracks until the center defroster stopped working a few weeks back. I called the local dealership to schedule an appointment to have it checked out only to learn that the part of my warranty that would cover the repair expired on 9/27/21 (and I could hear the excitement in his voice when he told me). It's sad that this seems like a common problem on a truck that only has a little over 26K miles on it. I had to tell them thanks, but no thanks since I can't afford to pay ~$2400 out of pocket to have a fully-functioning sliding rear window that doesn't leak. If this is the level of customer service I can expect from Ram, I might have to reconsider my commitment to the brand moving forward, @RamCares.
Agreed that this is a pathetic problem that RAM seems to give little attention to... however, I contacted ramcare and after a few conversations the replacement window was covered. Good luck...

Just became active on this forum because I'm having an issue that seems related to this. Horrible musty mildew smell in the rear seats particularly following rain on a 2019 Ram 1500 Laramie Quad Cab. Is there anyone coordinating a class action lawsuit?

Same issue here on my 2019 1500. I just purchased Certified Used from local Chrysler dealer Nov 19 2021. So I’ve owned it less than a month before bringing it to the dealer. Saw drips coming down from rear window while driving then I noticed the cracks see attached. I also purchased the dealer’s highest level of extended warranty. The dealer’s pamphlet for the insurance says “It’s so comprehensive that’s it’s easier to tell you what’s not covered” window assembly’s or manufacturing defects are not listed on what’s not covered. Dealer is now saying they would not cover the replacement and advised me to call RAM Care. Ramcare told me that since I was not the original owner they would not have any lenience on this. Now I’m stuck with the bill… I’m a first time RAM owner but this will probably be the last ram I ever buy after this experience.

I just wanted to post the latest update. My truck is officially @ the local Ram dealership having the back window replaced today at no cost to me. What I've heard is true...Ram customer service really DOES care. I can see why Ram's brand loyalty is so high. I'm definitely not going anywhere.

2020 Laramie leaking in rear window, staining headliner. Dealer confirmed leak, took pics and trying to get company to ship new window and dealer will install. Been over one month, no work. Thinking of sealing entire rear window and brake light with thin bead of marine grade clear silicone.

Earlier I said to use marine grade silicone sealant. Well, I have a boat and use the 3M 5200 sealant. Think this is ok to use for the rear window leak instead of the rtv sealant I hear on the posts?

Just realized mine was leaking after seeing excessive condensation on the windows and the rear floor is soaked from any rain. It’s going to the local dealer 3/22. Truck is just outside of warranty 33k miles 38 months. First ran and only owned the truck for 2 months and now a major water leak due to a manufacturing defect very very disappointed. Seeing how this goes at the dealer will be deciding if I own another ram or if I even keep this!! Being a former master BMW tech I am hoping this goes well as BMW would take care of this repair no questions asked even out of warranty within a reasonable amount of time.

FCA came back and said the cracked plastic frame is not covered under the 36mi/36k. It's on the glass which is shorter and was out of warranty when I purchased the truck. Dealer already passed. I'm on my own. Repaired for about $15 worth of isopropyl alcohol, blue painters tape, and Permatex 81730 flowable silicone. Maybe repaired is not the right term. But it no longer leaks. Loving my first Ram experience so far. Live and learn.

How so? The window or the service dept not putting the truck back together & damaging it?

I think I responded in this thread, but in short:
- window frame crack was fixed under warranty, but did not stop the leak.. they then did something with the 3rd brake light. over 2 yrs and no leaks since. -knock on wood-
- the seat, belts, etc were installed correctly after I went back on a different day..
- they also were able to have their sister Ford dealer, with a good body shop, perform paint corrections and were able to get the scratches out. I actually forgot they had been there till now.

Mark,

A "Funny" thing happened to my wife as she was driving through the rain about 2 weeks ago... Water was running into the back seat of my 2109. She took it to the dealer (STARR Motors of Suffolk, VA) who took a look at it the following day, marked the corners of the interior of the window frame w/ blur painters tape, marked it as leaks, and then told her that they needed to check w/ MOPAR Vehicle Protection (which I was provided Free of Charge by FCA due to the many issues that I had with my new 2019) to see if it was covered. Fast Forward almost 2 weeks - I called to see the status because STARR Motors had yet again failed to call& leave a message while claiming to have done so and was informed that this was NOT A COVERED repair. I even called them myself to be told the very same thing. I would like to know if this is in fact a covered problem/issue for I am ready to end my 20+ year / 7+ vehicle relationship with Dodge, RAM, & Starr Motors especially due to the "FUN" that I continue to have with my 2019 RAM. Mind you that I have been anxiously awaiting the Store Front Opening of Franklin Dodge/Ram in Franklin, VA for I am of the mind/heart set that much of my problem is with Starr Motors.... but I am starting to have some major second thoughts on the entire relationship.

Blessings,
Don

I just found out about this running problem, but it turned out much worse to me that to majority of you it seems. It flooded my electrical wiring and modules as its all located behind the rear seat. The car is black inside so I never noticed any leaks, and the dealership failed to identify this issue during previous repairs... what a nightmare...

I've posted my own thread about this if someone wants to know more details, its linked below

I have the same issue... I have a 2019 Ram 1500 Laramie that I purchased 08-23-19. It was a Certified Used vehicle and I did get the extended warranty plus, that they assured me was more comprehensive and lasted years longer due to it being a used vehicle. Note that at the time of purchase it has 1500 miles on it. on 06-16-22 I went to get in my Ram and the FOB did not work. I replaced the battery in FOB, and it still did not work. I tried the extra FOB and it did not work either. I was able to get in using physical key from FOB and the alarm sounded. The emergency brake was engaged and would not release, and the truck would not start. It was acting like someone had tried to steal it or break in, theft mode was activated somehow? I called the dealership and they said I would have to get it towed to them. I explained that I was concerned as the 4 wheel e-brake was engaged and not sure how they would tow it. I did get the tow company to tow it on a dolly for back wheels, on 06-17-22. I asked the dealer to look at the vehicle and let me know what is going on. I was told that they could not look at it until the following Monday (after they told me to tow it), over the weekend waiting for my "appointment", I researched the issue and found that it was most likely the RF Hub, and on Monday 06-21-22 I told the dealership and they thought the same, and found that the RF Hub was corroded due to a water leak. They told me that it would cost $2300.00 and was not covered under warranty. They said that the 36 month/36k miles warranty had expired. I looked at my paperwork and saw that I purchased it on 08-23-19, and have 20k miles. He said that the warranty is from manufacture date of 06-12-22. Considering that I have less than 20k miles and have owned it less than 36 months, I would think that it would be covered, but then to find that there is such a broad issue that hundreds of people have also had the issue, it should definitely be covered. Not to mention that I had the truck towed to the dealer 06-17-22, 5 days after the expiration of 06-12-22. I sure hope @RamCares can help me. I really hope that I can remain a Ram Loyal Customer, (My dad bought a 2010, and I finally got mine 2019).

That sucks!

I have bought CPO before and the 3yr / 36k mile warranty starts from mile 1 on the truck's odometer and the date the original owner purchased the truck. Not when you purchase the truck. So if they purchased it before 22Jun2019, you're SOL.

Maybe buy the RF Hub and install it yourself. Then call safelight and see how much they want to replace the back window? Also, it could just be your third brake light seal, which is an easily diy fix.
