I would not monitor, U gonna have mildew issues etc, best get into dealer before U run your 3 year, 36K warranty out. But alas, your ride. Also have the crack but not 100% sure if it leaks. reading this thread because I noticed the floor really wet under my rear seats after some heavy rain recently. going to monitor.
You fall in line with STAR Case S2023000024. That is clearly a crack and not a knit line. This is how I got my rear window replaced:Also have the crack but not 100% sure if it leaks. reading this thread because I noticed the floor really wet under my rear seats after some heavy rain recently. going to monitor.
I thought hey usually want to run a hose/pressure washer, etc over the window to confirm it's leaking vs just cosmetic cracks before they push to get the window replaced.Yes that’s all I wanted to do was drive it in have the service advisor confirm said cracks, then schedule and I would drop the truck off.
He said he has to have a technician look at it and would need my truck for four or five days before someone can look at it. That is insane, just to confirm cracks would take all of five minutes.
My dealership's schedule is at least a month out for an appointment. Once I drop it off it's put into the "rotation". It's at least 2-3 business days before it even gets looked at.Yes that’s all I wanted to do was drive it in have the service advisor confirm said cracks, then schedule and I would drop the truck off.

There's a STAR Case that does not require a water test. If they are seams then they would go to the water test if you press the issue but it they are cracks then the window gets replaced.I thought hey usually want to run a hose/pressure washer, etc over the window to confirm it's leaking vs just cosmetic cracks before they push to get the window replaced.
I took pictures of inside of the rear window leaking near the cracks on mine and emailed it to the service advisor the day I first brought it in.. That and the obvious cracks where he saw it was enough to schedule the replacement and order the window. (They also have to remove the back seat/interior panels around the window before sending it off to the glass shop.)
They should be able to still schedule a day or two to look at it and drop it off the night before.
There is no "trim" piece to replace. The whole window assembly is all one unit so it's all or nothing. That's why there's such a guffaw over this. Technically the frame could be covered under an extended warranty but glass is definitely not. Since you are replacing the glass when you replace the frame is why it is not covered outside of the basic warranty. So if my window isn’t leaking, do or will they still replace trim piece under warranty?
Just asking if you know. Thanks.
I have been thru several car washes and noticed no water, unfortunately living in AZ we don’t get much rain, so I can’t say it leaks when it rains….lol.
Just wanted to update this thread and my situation.
After two dealerships gave me the runaround I went back to the dealership I purchased my truck from, it’s a little bit of a drive further for me, than the other dealerships.
Upon my arrival at appointed time I met with service advisor and explained my situation and why I was there. He laughed and informed me there was no reason I had to leave my truck, he could handle the issue on the spot.
He took photos of the rear window trim cracks and gave me a reference number and told me he would be in touch when he found out how long it would be to get parts ordered and in house.
On my way home he phoned me and said parts are about a week out and would call and schedule me when parts arrived.
Not sure why the other dealerships couldn’t have done this.
This is a very large dealership and he said they would probly replace rear window themselves as they have a full body shop there also. I had read on here some dealers were out sourcing to glass companies, thats why I asked him about this.
So for now I’m a happy camper, I just wanted to get this issue on record as I’m at 35,500 miles and 35 months.
Will up date after work is complete and see if everything was put back together correctly.
@RamCares should be able to help you get this known rest window issue covered, especially if you're just barely past your warranty. (They won't cover damaged/wet headliner etc)Add me to the list this has happened to. 2019 Limited. 25K miles. Sits in the driveway most days as I work remote. After a recent storm noticed all windows were completed fogged over with heavy moisture. After a few days of the same during clear weather I knew something wasn't right. Brought to dealer and first thing he checked was the carpets under the back seats. Sure enough, it was wet. Left it on a Saturday and today (Weds) it was finally looked at. Turns out rear glass is cracked and needs to be replaced. Waiting on pictures. Barely out of warranty so $1460 out of pocket. Seems like this should be covered as a manufacturer defect. Insurance will cover if cracked, but deductible too high to make it worth it. Drivers sun visor hinge also falling apart ($265) and power steering makes growling noise on slow hard right turns. A 5 minute TSB to flash the chip and fix, $170. Tires down to 3/32 and need to be replaced and I barely drive the thing. Hope this isn't a sign of things to come. Love the truck otherwise. I guess it is what it is, but ouch.
