What's this "torque wrench" you're talking about, lol. On my wheels the torque spec is 3 Ugga Dugga's and they're good till next weekend :Big Laugh: :Big Laugh: :Big Laugh:

I was a victim of the old days at CTC where 70% off on the slower moving tools happened regularly.

IIRC, I bought the last 1/2" torque wrench about 2010.

Plus, my older torque wrench became unreliable due to age/use. And, maybe, I didn't know enough to reset it to 0 after every use about 35 years ago.

I always do but I own a torque wrench so I just do it myself...
When running all-terrains, mud terrains or even the RTs on my Power Wagon I think it's important to re-torque them...

I lived in the City of Ottawa for most of my garden hose refreshment years, maybe it was poisonous.

I've had my own well for the past 16 years but still prefer the charcoal filtered water from my kitchen tap instead.

.
We kiddos drank from the water hose back in the day.
Is that a Canadian thing? I am yet to see a "Chef" at any dealership I have gone to. Just usually some coffee pots, and a machine to buy junk out of, LOL. Also, if real lucky, they may have a TV.
I worked at Tomball Ford from early (February?) on 2000 to the same time in 2001. The Dealership GM was "Papa" Joe Sebesta. His family owned a home cooking restaurant in Tomball. This new facility I went to work at, has a professional kitchen right in the middle of the service dept. building. On Saturdays, "Papa" Joe would cook for all of us mechanics! Delicious, wholesome food!

I've been reducing the dry torque spec by about 20% for decades and have yet to lose a wheel. I might now go check the torque, just for fun.

The real test is convincing a dealership service writer to add that to the work order.
I've had mixed reactions from "That's illegal" to "Sure, no problem".
I haven't often verified they set the torque to my requested value.

When I can obtain a warranty check, synthetic oil change (I provide my own filter), and seasonal tire change for $130, I use a nearby dealership.

They also have a gourmet chef who makes incredibly tasty lunches for a very reasonable price.

My local dealer has a coffee pot (with baaad coffee) and vending machines...

I've worked at a couple of stealerships here in Canada that had very good meals that were prepared by tremendous cooks. Never had one with a Chef though!

If you're ever in the Mississauga area, drop in to Team Chrysler.
That Chef prepares phenomenal meals.

That's a great idea.
I don't get out there often but will add to my phonebook contacts list.

If ever in the Ottawa West region and looking for a great feed, stop by Metro Capital Dodge and have real home-cooked food served on real plates with real cutlery.

Update; I should have indicated I have reduced the dry torque spec by ~20% because I use a slight bit of anti-seize on the wheel lugs.

I have had some bad experiences with the Toyota wheel nuts, which pilot off of the precision of the lug hole size in the wheel, and have a flat washer captured by the actual lug nut, but it can still spin. Those take an incredibly low torque of around 80 ft lb. I've always observed factory specs on those, and, although they seem as though they aren't tight enough, I've never had a wheel off. I have, however been called upon to fix brake pulsations on those vehicles after the ham-fist at the tire store impacts them to 200-300 lb ft. This invariably warps the rotors. These seem not to care if there is a tad of nickel based anti seize.

Yes, I recall using a pipe on a power bar to break some of those free.

Luckily, I do all my own wheel changes or rotations unless it coincides with an inexpensive warranty check/oil change.

Funny, I recall warped rotors on my Tundra, many years ago. I wonder if they were a result of brainless wheel installations. Thanks for the reminder.

Got a flat one morning early in company truck F 150. Had to get extended bar and it took 2 of us standing and flexing on dat cheater bar to break lug nuts free.

Next morning went to garage where company had account ref repairs and lost my turkey mind. The service chief guy whom I knew was not happy. I had them get out there and loosen all nuts. Tighten to snug and then use torque wrench each lug and I stood there watching.

I dig it. I trade with the division of Apache auto parts that sells automatic transmission parts... VERY friendly folks, prices on par with the industry.
