So I recently purchased the KYB Gas-A-Just line of shocks for my truck. I can't seem to find a good video on isntallation. I've heard that the rear shocks are a pain in the ass to change out...WHAT?! I firgured the rear shocks were always the easiest! Its still only (4) bolts total across the two of them. Is it bolt placement? Whats the deal?

The front shocks I bought are not complete stut assemblies (no coil spring). I saw no reason to change the coil spring at 51k miles. Perhaps in another 50k I'll completely change them out. How difficult are the fronts to swap out? Without replacing the coil spring as well?

Tool list? Any help would be appreciated. Brake Check quoted me $200.00 to swap them out. Seems to me like any decent shop with a lift and tools, should be able to change these out in under an hour.

Thoughts?

It will take 2 hours for a good shop and good technition with the proper tools. If you bring in your own parts they are only making money on labor so that may be the reason for a little extra. The rears are not hard but you have to remove the wheel liners, the fronts you would need to disassemble most of the front and be comfortable with using a rented or purchased spring compressor

Thanks Leslie.

This is crazy! The nearest Dodge dealer wanted to charge just over $700 for the work! $391.00 for the fronts and 2xx something for the rears...FOR SHOCK INSTALLATION! Why would they have made it so hard to do the fronts? Spring compressor...I don't think I feel comfortable with that. So much for doing them myself. Brake check's price doesn't seem so bad now. Going to ask Four Wheel Parts as well.

Just last year, my dad and I put (4) Bilstein shocks on a 2010 4x4 F250 diesel by ourselves...good grief. I thought these would be even easier. I guess not. Just seems stupid.

Rear shocks were a pain on my 2017 4x2.
