Hi guys. Looking for new shocks for the truck. 97 Ram, 5.9, 4x4, extended-cab, short-bed, with the towing package. The truck is 90% street and highway, 5% towing, and 5% off-road. I'm looking for some new shocks (the old ones are BLOWN). Looking for a premium shock that will give me a good ride for the 90% of street driving that I do. I don't haul much, so I don't want to "over-shock" it with some heavy-duty thing that will make my daily driving suck. I'm looking at the Monroe Reflex series. Anyone have opinions on these, or any other shocks in the reasonable priced range? I tried heavy-duty shocks on my last truck, but since I hauled so seldom, it just made it miserable to drive the rest of the time. I appreciate any input you can give me. Thank you.

Most shocks on cars and trucks are HD or sport tuned. I have put Bilstein HD's on last two vehicles they ride nice but prevent spongy feel. I would personally avoid Gabriel and Monroe as they just don't seem to last in cars I have tried them in. KYB is probably what you are looking for for a little softer ride and good price.

I tend to agree with Smiley. I really liked my Monroe Reflexs when I installed them, but 20k miles later, they needed to be replaced.
