I've owned 3 regular cabs and one quad cab, all were Ram trucks. My current truck is a 2014 RCSB 4x4. I had a 2008 QCSB for a year and I didn't like the 4 door cab. It just me and the wife so a single cab is perfect for us. I honestly love the look of a RCSB and RCLB truck.

Unless you absolutely need the extra seating.....I would go with a regular cab. I love my 2013.... so much easier to park....and get into tight spaces.

Ok im here now how can i help lol?

How does your truck handle loads and hauling? Also does it feel stable at highway speeds with crosswinds, etc?

Just geniunely wondering how the single cab behaves empty and loaded with the new coil springs. Theres LOTS of feedback from guys with the 4-door rights, but not much I could find on the single cab owners.

Im also wondering if that electronic axle up front is a mistake or not. Thats just more crap to break or hang up and the 4WD wont engage on either front wheel.

Not sure what youre worried about with the 4wd system tbh..they are all like that now but i treat it like its old school anyway.

As far as unloaded ride the thing is an 8 second bull..very very stiff especially compared to the chevy 2500s we have at work..towing is a breeze ive never felt like the truck couldnt handle what ive used it for. Ive towed 10k once and the only thing i can say is order 4.10s and you'll never have an issue. Ive only ever had a lot of weight in the bed a couple times but 20 sheets of 7/8" plywood is only like 1000lbs and there was little difference in ride unloaded vs 1000lbs in the box.

The thing is a monster and it scoots damn good too..the only thing is unless you drive grandpa style exclusively youre gonna blow through the stock firestones. I was ripping donuts the other day and i swear it chewed a few mm of tread off just doing that. I love it though no regrets here..i would like some 4.56 gears and a front lift kit. I'll never plow and dont tow enough to make it squat usually so im not worried about being nose high. the front coils are seemingly made of concrete so id like to alter that. Everything else will remain stock for a long time though.

Many of my friends also tried to convince me not to get a regular cab..i told them they better get their own damn cars because i only seat two now [emoji14]

I forgot to add this in the above post..when towing more than 4000 its pretty smooth imo. Ive lowered my tire pressure to 60/65 to try and help the unloaded ride but i think once it gets a bit more broken in it wont seem so rough. I also live in buffalo where they repave streets every 15 years so i could really use some better shocks and tires. I feel like that would help a lot.

I LOVE driving my reg cab, it's like driving a sports car compared to my 6" lifted QC. It's so much fun to drive, it took some getting use to - mainly taking it to get groceries, I leave large Tupperware in the bed now, problem solved :)

Thank you for the input, it does help hearing from guys who own the RC and can offer feedback.

I just dont like things to be any more complicated than they need to be. Any engineer will tell you, simpler is better. Less moving parts is always better. The 2009 QC 4x4 I have now has the straight ole axle and it doesnt bother me one bit if the front diff is spinning, hell the rear one is always spinning and nobody gives that any thought. LOL To me, the 1 MPG gain isnt worth the upfront extra expense of the electronic gizmos they put on, (make no mistake you are paying more for that crap) the inconvenience it can fail and not work when you need it, and trouble/expense of having to repair that gizmo when it does fail. All for 1 MPG? It dont pencil out how my farm boy head works. :Big Laugh:

Believe it or not the stick is not like old school but you still cant shift on the fly IIRC ..ford is the only company that will still make you lock the hubs.

I agree less electronics is better but this truck i bought ended up being the same price as a more basic slt that i would have ordered..therefore i couldnt turn it down lol..the only thing it doesnt have is luxury group and 4.10s.

Ive read that too, but Im guessing that would only be the trucks with the dash-mounted 4WD selector, right?

With the electric-engaged axles upfront (meaning you are relying upon a wire and servo of some sort) it kinda doesnt even make sense to get the manual 4WD lever version. Because even if the floor mounted lever is truly mechanical (meaning less prone to give you problems) the axles are electric so may as well opt for the dash-mount 4WD switch.

From all of your posts it seems like a truck from the 70's would be perfect for you, am radio, manual hubs, standard transmission, and leaf springs all the way around. The front axle disconnect gaines about 2 to 3 mpg's in the Cummins trucks, a little less than that for the 6.4 though. I want efficiency when it is simple things like that. They have been around so long in every other vehicle that it is pretty much perfected at this point.

My 14 dually has the shift on the floor, its just cheaper than the electronic shifter (Tradesman), and I can shift on the fly up to 45 MPH, and I do not have manual hubs that I have to fool with.

Is that what it says in the owners manual? I've shifted going 70 before... Oops!

The manual shifter just engages the transfer case manually. The front axle is still electronically engaged.
