this sounds more like a miscommunication rather than sleazy ethics.

i got one for ya that would qualify as sleazy - asked my buying dealer for a quote on spark plug/tune up. guy comes back in 5 minutes and says 650 + tax, it takes 16 plugs. i have never gone back since. another dealer quoted 260..which seems to be the going rate around here. 650. LOL

I have a very similar experience, but it's with my '99 Jeep Cherokee. I took it to the dealer for an oil change. Well the performed their "inspection" and came up with a supposed $1400 in needed servicing. They printed it on the bottom of the invoice as recommendations. The amounts they wanted to charge are downright comical:

Well, I went to a shop I trust and had them just do work that actually needed to be done for $290:

Sorry to just be replying...

If you have a issue with a dealer, especially if they are a 5 star dealer. Ask for a comment card or go to Dealerrater.com that might be miss spelled, but a poor rating effects the money they receive from Chrysler.

I've got lots of friends in that business and that's what they fear the most.

Good point & this is true. In part of my negotiating with the dealer he asked that I promised to give him a 10 rating of which I will since he made more than good on the original deal

You are just as responsible as they are when it comes to finding out which discount you qualify for. It is good that the deal went your way but in no way were they required to sell you the truck for the contract price.

Nope, sorry but I disagree. As a customer I can't possibly be responsible for knowing how Chrysler programs are run. A dealer on the other hand is considered to be an extension of Chrysler and is indeed responsible for communicating these programs accurately to their customers. Again, as I stated earlier Chrysler relations did get involved and agreed with me 100%.

Being someone who actuallly does qualify for this program, this makes me want to smack my head off my desk.

I'm wondering what it is that you want. What you are entitled to? Or more than you're entitled to? If it was the other way around, would you complain? Just sayin.

6.4 Hemi
When I went to the dealership looking at what ended up being my new 6.4 Hemi 2500 Ram, I asked a few questions (that i actually already knew the answers to) just to see what kind of saleman I was dealin with. For example, I asked about horsepower numbers for the 6.4 Hemi, and his response - over 600 hp. Obviously this is incorrect. Do i need to put my truck on the dyno and if it doesn't make 600 hp, take it back and demand they honor that power rating? ;)

Expecting the salesperson to know every single detail about a vehicle, or in this case Chrysler's (probably many) different discounts/programs, is not realistic. They probably should have done a little more research before agreeing to the terms/signing a contract. or maybe there was a misunderstanding? bottom line - nobody is perfect, and while it may seem there was something "sleazy" going on, in all honesty it was likely someone not fully understanding either what discount program you were referring to, or the entirety of the details of that particular program.

Glad you got a good deal.

It's pretty simple. All I wanted was the price that the dealer & I originally agreed to. I think that's reasonable.
