Good day,
I’m sort of stumped on this and checking if anyone has any idea what this may be. I noticed a few weeks back that while driving around the community at around 2000-2500 RPM, the truck would make a faint rumble that sounded like it was coming from the dash area, engine I suppose. It happens when I’m parked or driving. It is very brief and I can slowly press on the gas long enough for the RPM to get to 2000-2500 and hold it, it will stay rattling/rumbling. As soon as it drops it stops. If the RPMs go over 2000-2500 it stops. When driving it will do the same thing when slowing down. It’s not long and very brief. You can feel it in the seats when in park. I don’t have any symptoms of the torque converter shudder and the trans was rebuilt in February. I have long tube headers and full welded custom exhaust. Not having any issues with engine mounts but I’ll have to double check on those. No codes and the trick drives like a champ otherwise.
MDS has been tuned out and I have tried with it on and off, still same thing happens.
I’ll try to get a video up this evening. Any info is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Lyle.

Check the headers around the frame rails.
Seeing as it happens in park too I don't think it's motion-related. Sounds more like vibration against something stationary only noticeable at a specific rpm range.

I have a dual exhuast that goes into an x pipe almost under rear passenger seat. I checked the Headers at the frame rails and the passenger side is pretty close but nothing touching there that I can see. This rumble type noise only happens when the engine is warmed up. Like if I get in and start it and rev up around the 1500-2500 there is no noise. If I go for a drive I can hear it after 10 mins or so of driving. Very faint and short, but really noticeable around the 1500-2500 mark. Mostly around the 1500 mark. I tried it out again this evening and it was showing up after a little drive and right at the 1500 mark. Even in park revving to the 1500 mark set it off. I read on here that it was something to do with resonance and that some of the older trucks do this. I have a 2011 with 138*** miles on it. No issues with trans or motor.

Might the rumble actually be a drone?

Nope, I’ve been running my truck with this setup for a while now and this is the first time it’s making this type of noise.
