Anyone notice that there's a slight delay between when you press the center hub to blow the horn and when it actually blows? And also, that there's no way to do just a short little mini-blast?

Every other vehicle I've had, if you want to audibly signal someone "hi" or "hey wake up" when you're behind them at a light that's turned green or something, without giving a full on horn blast, I've always been able to just lightly tap the horn a couple of times and get a quick little "toot toot" kinda thing. But not in the Ram... it's delayed, then you get a full-on BLAST.

Annoying.

Anyone figure out a way to do a shorter horn tap, and without the delay?

Haha...mine too. Just imagine an air horn...lol.

I guess my thinking is that it sits on top of the air bag system, so you have to press down on it. I've seen on other cars and trucks either buttons on the sides of the steering wheel, or a leather wrap around the center button for the horn that a lows you for that small toot that you want. On our rams, you have this massive plastic piece that covers the whole center portion so there is no sensitive area to press.

yes, to be honest, it was almost a dealbreaker when I bought the truck lol. so annoying. I sound like an ******* when I try to give a little beep to the car in front of me and a big honk comes out.

The delay is because the horn works thru the data lines... it's weird you push it 1...2...3... HONK!

So funny... right after I got my truck, I passed a co-worker at an intersection and he honked. I tried to honk back and blasted him. When we got to work, he was like "*******, dude, remind me not to honk at you again!". :D
I don't even try anymore.

I pretty much have to punch my horn for it to make any sound at all, and then it's a big, loud HONK.

Mine seems to work normal! There is a small delay, like max 1 second. I have a train horn though so I can do those small honks and not just a full on blast!

Yep, it is utterly annoying. That, and you have to really press the wheel to get a honk.

Some things should not be passed on canbus... this is one of them.

Yup, I figured it was a Canbus issue. I'm thinking I may do a direct bypass to the horns, then put a small switch somewhere easy to tap to give me a solution to this. Maybe a floor switch, like the old school high beam switches, only momentary.

Hmmmm.

I bring this up because the same topic came up before on a different car forum, and someone had discovered there was a place on the horn button you could press that was much quicker and lighter/shorter actuation. Was hoping someone had discovered the same thing here.

It's digitally-controlled. Not like the traditional simple electrical circuit.

Yep.... super annoying. No way to "politely" get the ******* in front of you to get their head out of their iphone when the light turns green.
