I'm sure it has been done, but I haven't seen it yet.

Insert removed:

Checking for space:

Picked it up:

Vertical bumper supports cut out and raw edges sanded smooth:

Not mounted, just showing how much of the space it takes up:

I think I'm going to cut along this red line and re-install the insert to hide the rough edges of the bumper opening:

That's as far as I've gotten other than spending $50 for wiring needs. The light bar will be centered both vertically and horizontally.

I kind of agree that it takes away from the super clean look of ur truck. BUT, I do like the lights, too. So I'm torn on it. Maybe if you could cover the light bar with some sort of very lightly tinted plexi or something so it doesnt stand out too much, but still light enough for the light to shine thru like u want. Or a mesh or something. It would be ok if u could still see the lighs behind it, just wouldnt distract from ur trucks look too much. Ur truck is sick....

Pretty cool certainly different. I am one who does not do much to look of the truck because I like them off the lot. Tint, flaps, tonneau, d ring, and tires is all I have for aesthetics I know many like to change and customize everything.

Come on fellas...did you really think I was just going to slap it in there? I thought you might know me better than that Jake.

Sick Dave. Every since you mentioned this, I always wanted to see the light bar on your truck.

Can't wait to see the finished product.

Alright, time to all but finish this up:

Dash torn out...I did this while waiting for my class to start one night:

Here's the simple switch I used and it's placement in the cubby hole on the left side of the main center stack. It's off centered for a reason so that I can easily get to it with my hand:

Switch wiring:

Time to black out this light bar so that it looks like it belongs on my truck:

This is available at Home Depot for $20. It's not permanent, so if I want to remove it or change it out later, it's very easy. I heard about this from someone who used it on a lexan rear truck window for a truck that had a cage running through the back window:

03011316_zps86ca94f1.jpg

03011317_zpseb7f3da5.jpg

I ended up cutting this down to the exact size of the lexan:
03011318_zpsefa7441e.jpg

All those little screws that hold the outer trim down (which holds the lexan down) were removed and painted with black, high heat enamel:

Blacked out light bar completed and re-assembled:

Now fabbing up the mounts. I used some very thick metal brackets from Home Depot and then bent and cut them to work for me. They were also painted with the black enamel, but I forgot to take a pick of them after paint:

03011323_zpsb989e34c.jpg

Done with installation. I love how it's almost invisible even without the trim piece on:

Lit up:

I might be able to finish up the trim piece this weekend.
