This is exactly what I wanted to do as well. I found a picture of it but thanks for the video link.

You may have some luck by posting a want to trade (WTT) in the classified section of this forum or Craigslist. Some folks don't want the sport good and will do an even trade for color matched.

Meaning I thought I was the king of poor taste.
Nope, if I wouldn't get pulled over I would install a scanning LED light to make my truck look like KIT.

I personally think it's an excellent use of an otherwise non-functional space...It's not easy being cheesy.

Yeah their prices are steep. I just like the idea. Not sure I'll actually ever do it and definitely would not buy a sport hood just to do it but if I could actually trade someone even, hood for hood, I would definitely consider the mod in some form.

I wanted something like those til I saw the price. Really I was just interested in getting amber parking lights in there (to match my orange theme on the front of the truck). I got two amber led bars off amazon for like $30, we made some brackets and ended up having to cut some plastic in the shape of the scoops and hit it with some night shade due to the brightness of the leds. Glued said piece to the scoop and wired to the parking lights and done. Probably had $40-50 into the project and they came out pretty good. That was a few months ago and havent had any issues.

This pic does show one thing we had to fix, which was light escaping around the bottom of the scoop. Not really a big deal to fill in the gap and they are good now.

A local friend bought the OEM hod from dealer and had it painted. Was close to $2500 by the time it was done. Brutal.

I paid $975 after taxes for the sport hood on my Express from the local dealer and another $200 to paint it. Should have gotten it when I ordered my truck. Looks really good on my white truck.

You guy's South of the border are lucky. Those hoods up here go for $800-$900 used!! New up here about $1500-$2000 not painted if the factory has any for single purchase other than production line assembly. I just sold one for $800 and it was in not bad shape. I'm about to come across another one which needs a small repair done. I will fix it but the new owner will have to have it prepped and painted. Just have to know where to look.....

www.carid.com has a few different varieties of functional ram air sport hoods for the Ram trucks. The most expensive one is a little over $700. They are made by Amerihood.
