AEM Dryflow, basically a non-oiled K&N.

I guess we can also add, oiled or dry filters? Why one or the other?

Why do you want to change---better sound, better looks, more hp, all the above. Each aftermarket CAI has it's own unique selling points and they all have different prices and they all claim to be the best. And, everyone that has bought one thinks their's is the best or at least the most affordable. You'll get lots of opinions------

It's time to replace my filter so I'm just looking at options other members have used and are happy with. I'm not interested in a CAI, so that is out of the question. Just looking for a cheap drop in filter, so far it looks like the AEM DryFlow filter has the best reviews

Drop in's I think that you hear the most about K&N and AEM. I had a K&N before I bought my Vararam and it seemed to do the job fine. I liked the idea of just cleaning it and not having to replace it.

The AEM DryFlow filter is actually made by K&N, even has their logo on the side.

I know spectre makes cheap autozone cold air intakes, but their filters are actually pretty good. I had a drop in one in my Silverado and did its job just fine. I'm sure they make one for our truck as well

Either use a stock filter, AEM Dry-flow or K&N. Any will work fine and with the HP our engines make you won't notice difference between any of them. If you have forced induction you will want/need a higher flowing filter. Stock or mild modified any are fine.

Exactly how does someone determine that their aftermarket filter was better than another? How do you measure filtration from your last filter to the present?

Are we basing it on the "improved throttle response" or how dirty it is?

Seems that the AEM air filter is more restrictive than the stock air filter. Throttle response has decreased, anyone else notice this??

I went with a k&n. Didn't notice any difference. Didn't really expect to either but I like being able to reuse it. I'm thinking about running a 3-4in pvc pipe from the little valence in the bottom of my bumper to the air box and blocking off the one that pulls from the fender. Ram air baybuh! I don't expect any gains from that either but it'll be cool when somebody asks me 'what's that hole for?'

Throttle body spacers, cold air intakes, drop in performance filters are all a waste of money I think unless you have engine mods. The stock engine can pull plenty of air just like it is.

I'll trade you a like new Spectre for your like new AEM. I'll even send it to you to try out first. If you like it, send me the AEM, if not send it back.

Just bought a Wix. Seems like a well built filter. Also, pleats were about 1/4 deeper than the stock filter.
