What exactly does the 3715 tell you when you hook it up to the vehicle?

Scott

Hi Scott,

The 3715 comes up Vin Locked ....dose not match truck Vin. I got the unit years back (uesd) and worked fine for 2 years... I now have the NEW 3865 tuner. Was thinking the new tuner would pull the old SC tune out (as the stock tune) and load the new tune ....NOT. I think the code was E43 said tune was not stock and call SC. So, do I need to take the truck to the dealer and have it flashed with a stock tune and then load the 3865 tuner back up?

Thanks for the reply and any help!
Dave

Sorry to hear of your problem. The exact same issue happened to me 3 years ago. Used 3714 Vin Locked on the Truck after about 2 Months (Seller no names no pack drill).
Contacted Superchips to discuss the problem and then decided only one choice in the matter. Take to dealer...reflash...get updates for the 03...(got a deal $59 Bucks) and buy a new SC 3865. So I then mailed the fried 3714 to Superchips and they gave me an awesome discount towards the SC 3865 (more than what I paid for the 3714) and I loaded her up and been going since (except for 3 weeks recent with DSP which I was not impressed with and will try and sell).

So bottum line cure is to reflash your PCM Man. The old 3714's seem to lock up if you make a slight error while changing tunes (Tow to perf in my case). Good Luck. SC Rocks!

One thought that comes to mind is that the mis-match could be due to a dealer reflash. If you have visited between the time you originally tuned the vehicle tuned and now even for an oil change chances are that they updated your PCM with new files wiping out the tuning software.

03MopaRamman's details might be the best course of action for you but before you make that decision call customer service to verify that this is the only option for you without having to pay a fee to get the product reprogrammed.

Well, as far as the old tuner...my truck never gose to the dealer and has never been flashed. If I have the PCM flashed will the new tuner I have load up?

Further to Scotts Cust.SVC. call recommendation. It should load-up no Probs IMO. (Further to post # 23 above), If you never been to the Dealer before (Like me) you will also be pleased to receive the updates for a smoother Idle, etc that came out since your Truck was built.

I did it as a precaution because after the 3714 locked up I didn't know where my PCM stood and that is the best way to ensure that you start from a clean slate and that the new Tuner (3865 in my case) loads up nicely afterwards.

Well, talked with SC today. Have to have the truck flashed and the 3865 will load up! Now just have to take it to the DealerShip.

Thanks Scott, and everyone for your help.
