For those that want to do some reading. Don’t forget to click on on the “click here” links.

This alone is a LOT of information.

pretty cool sir, but I would like to know how he got the info on group %'s. Other then his assumptions on ester content, that link is badass, thanks for posting Kyle.

I'd go as far as saying if you have a machine valued over 500 bucks, that would be a good 2 stroke bible, especially atsm part. Must read if you have real stuff, fortunately for me my machines top out at 250 bucks so I'm slinging and splling gas and eye balling every damn thing.

Nice to see this thread is not just going but going strong. Great work boys. My Redline run was not what I hoped. Tick is full on now with 7600 on this OCI (32k on the clock) but only when cold. Once I’m up to temp, she’s great. I’m traveling but when I get back I’m sending it to the dealer. Fully aware I’ll get, “it’s normal.” Then when my motor loses a cam, I may have some recourse.

Sounds more like broken manifold bolts than the hemi tick. Opinion based on the tick going away when warm.

Im a looser and pour my oil into a small oil bottle on a digital scale for the PERFECT mix ratio[emoji23][emoji23]. Then rinse it out with a bit of gas.

Waste of time.... i know.

I do the same. Been using the Stihl oil since I bought my chainsaws in 1985. Engines still run fine.

You’d think so. Bolts are all good. Sounds like piston slap more than lifter tick.

Piston slap is par for the course with 5.7s. I’ve heard so many others in everything from 300s to Ram 2500s have piston slap when cold including my truck. No oil I’ve found changes it at all. FWIW every UOA I’ve had shows very low aluminum so it’s most likely benign.

That said I’d def have the dealer document it...

Did it go away once you switched to redline? Did it not help at all? Help at first then come back? Think you will do a uoa next change?

It did get better. The engine smoothed out nicely. Before Redline, I could feel the engine idle through my feet on the floor. After Redline, couldn't even tell the engine was running.

What were you using before?

Can i do a brief 2 stroke oil topic. Without long explanations i have been researching the SH!? out of it lately. 2 stroke oil is WAY different in things to look for and what the proper choice is for your intended purpose. If you want to get super technical with it like we do it is much more involved.

So let me keep this simple.

What 2 stroke oil do you use?
Why do you use it?

Do you have good knowledge from experience of its piston, exhaust port and muffler carbon buildup characteristics?

Keep it simple.

I base my whole life on simple & Drama Free!

I use the following 2 in the pic!
I either by the cans from tractor supply or the local Walmart - 3 cans lasts me all summer. ($18 total)
(Mostly 32:1 or 40:1)

My Stihl weed eater is 8 yrs old - my sears chainsaw is 22 yrs old & my new Stihl blower is 2 years old.

All I do is change spark plug & air filter.
Not one issue so far - even though I really think these manufacturers build disposable equipment these days.

The Pennzoil Marine is used @ 640:1 in all the family gas autos as a simple fuel additive.
I even use it @ the same rate in my lawnmower @ generac Generator!
Lawnmower is a 16yr old briggs (Snapper)

Never a issue - so no reason to question or ridicule! Nothing but positive results!

I prefer the Trufuel which I buy at Tractor Supply - about $6 a can.

TXCOMT: Please don't concern yourself with my nasty habits!
believe me: Your much better off!

No disrespect is directed your way I assure you!
It's much to complicated to explain - Most would never understand!

I won't continue on with the TC-W3 discussion - I do apologize!
It always seems to produce swollen Ginas!
