Cool, thanks for sharing the experience. What we do here is kind of pull apart brand names and show additive packages and such, but personal experience is part of the deal as well, so thanks for that. If you look at Havoline synthetic, poor tbn, poor noack, but this is in the past. With the newest spec, when Havoline meets it, it will be substantially different then the link's formulation. Likely the noack will stay the same.

So another thing we consider here is how things run in hemi's, and possibly run in hemi's. In other oil forums the entire it really doesn't matter what oil you run thing is very popular. I have personally subscribed to that philosophy as well, until I have read up on hemi's and have experienced hemi tick, and have witnessed so many internal problems. I encourage you to do some research across brands, but again I do appreciate hearing about the experience you had with Havoline.

Thank you, I'll double check and will look into the options.

Usually when they put in 7 quarts, it's at Low level (bottom hole) and I always add 1/2 quart more to bring it to the high level.

But now the level is well above the high mark...

I'm surprised that this situation even happened as the local shop is very competent, specializes in hemi, and is owned by two brothers, one of whom was doing the oil change.

I decided not to do anything about my overfill oil and drove it to Denver.

All went well thankfully on this 1200 mile trip. Truck ran very smoothly

Even though I keep bashing ram, due to my recent dozen trips to the dealership and not having my truck for two months, I got to say that I really enjoyed this long drive and enjoyed driving the truck. Fast, smooth, comfortable.

Just checked oil today and it's about 1/2 inch over the top hole marker on the dipstick.

Pray for me to make it back home to San Francisco safely next week.

Hey guys, popping into this thread for a minute. I’m getting ready to start up my 100% brand new stroker engine. What oil would you recommend for the first startup? I’ll change it all out after ~50 miles.

Clean base oil with added wear additive to knock down sharp edges.

Another good one. Just use PYB 10w30 or 10w40 with redline ZDDP break in additive. Excellent combination. Just be sure to do a few short OCI with this before going to your preferred synthetic.

Almost 37,000 and none so far. And I hope it stays that way. She sure is a good running truck.

I have been letting the dealer change and Maintain my truck. I haven't used any synthetic oils.

Super tech is a very clean base oil, just like m1. Hydro cracked group 3 oil. However, it doesn't have moly which you don't want for break in anyway, and yes is super cheap.

Wow , you have a good hemi build ...such a poor oil in Havoline oil and you don't even have a slight hemi tick ???
Consider yourself lucky imo ...

Good luck Sir ...I wouldn't run havoline oil 1 mile past 3,ooo miles .

If I were you Sir , I'd start using PYB Dino oil aka PENNZOIL non synthetic Yellow Bottle , as this is not your daddy's PENNZOIL formula back in the day ! This is imo the absolute best #s for the 5.7L Hemi as it is higher in Molybdenum than most and good #s on other important additives as well and a great oil for any other engine today to boot .....

If your cool with 3k -4k oil change intervals for your Hemi , then it's PENNZOIL all the way !!!
