If you all want to read up on fluid filters go to the "filter manufactures council",

Looks like filter media is efficiency rated for three particular sizes
5,10,20 microns based on single pass.
Talcum powder is 10 microns
1 micron = 1/1000,000 of a meter
Seems like the higher the filter media efficiency the greater the pressure drop and lower the flow rate for a given oil pump speed(rpm) and fluid viscosity.
Do not believe the oil filtering in the v8s requires as much efficiency as a high pressure hydraulic power system.
Seems like the main purpose of the engine oil filter is to remove any earth dust particles that get by the air filter.
High winds pick up a lot of dust in the desert and also tractors working near highway 99 in the farming region.
Noticed highway construction use water trucks to control dust for vehicles when expanding from two lane to four lane highways.
