That video had the two guys that trained lake and I have no idea what you are saying, but that isn't what the video is. But since you brought it up, what about fully driven oil isn't for passenger cars? Lack of emulsifiers?

Sulfur instead on zinc for cam break in, huh.

Talks about ester helping zddp get to surface, perhaps it helps modtc.

Brings up the question of why a ticking engine benefits from a race oil considering the facts in this video. No they didn't say it, why helps answer why trucks go silent on some oils that happen to have similar chemistry = pao/ester with moly plus zinc, and what that does for the surface of metal in a high performance engine.

I'm just commenting on a video he did long ago explaining why his oil for his racing team wasn't for street use. He blathered on for an hour so I don't remember all the ranting. You want me to look it up and re-post?

I got to head out and get more chores done before a major heat wave hits soon.

You brought it up, and yes if there is a specific aspect of an high performance oil that shouldn't be used for passenger engines would certainly be relevant. I'm not into blather I gave it up for lint, but if the video had a time stamp where the point is made I am sure we all would appreciate that. PS, I know there is no I in lent but I always say it that way to piz of the Catholics in my family :)

I'll see if I can dig it up, won't guarantee I'll time stamp search, we're getting ready for hot weather next week.

I'm pretty sure it's this video, it's "only" 37 minutes long which is like a snapchat for Lake.

I may or may not get around to re-watching it. I searched for it spilling dinner on my lap.

my kind of guy, 17 "illegal" car fixes, lol. First one = oil.

Is that dude even real or is he just an AI bot? He seems slightly...off.

Why would 1/4 quart over the fill line make the oil pump circulate oil faster, that doesn't make any sense. The pump isn't relying on the pressure of the fluid to push oil into the intake...

Kinda quiet here - anybody having trouble getting synthetic oil yet, as predicted (due to Strait of Hormuz shut down)?

Or y'all hoarded up?

Well I'm good, for about 2 years on oil and almost 10 years on filters.
And I'm 69.
So here's a thread bump as your question slowly creeps toward the far
bottom end of my "New Threads" list.

We were discussing this on another forum and a guy I know who works at a Walmart posted a couple pics of the oil-bottle aisle. At 1st glance looked pretty full and only a few, very few holes. Then I looked closer.

The entire aisle working from the far end from the camera, was: Mobil(1), Castrol, Pennzoil, Supertech (walmart's brand). That's it.
There was one shelf that was only partially filled with Valvoline.

So at Wally World you can find any oil you could want/need as long as it is one of four. I've been buying a tone of stuff online, and maybe it's just me, but I found this surprising. An aisle about 100 feet long, and 4 brands to choose from.

I just yesterday walked out of WalMart with Three 1-gallon jugs of Rotella T-6 for the Cummins. $26/each

I didn’t see any shortage of any particular brand (and an entire shelf of SuperTech Full Syn in every viscosity.

So far the CT stores here are all stocked as usual. Now the oil filters are getting thinner. They were always a big supplier of Fram products, amoung others, so the Fram filters are getting thinned out. I see quite a few empty shelf slots for them.
Man I really hope the Fram Ultra are a good filter. Once my RP filters are gone I stocked up on a bunch of the Ultras before they were all gone.... I guess all gone by me. In my applications anyway.

A while back a dude knocked on my window and asked me to turn off my Bronco. I gave him 4 words that ended the conversation, "I'm not the guy." Well now it is illegal in UK to have air conditioning on while parked. There is no on the fence on this issue, people either hate people who run their conditioner on a hot day or they hate people who think it is ok to bother someone who is using their AC in a parked car. Where you stand?

I really think people need to mind their own business. I am one of those bast*rds that would crank my A/C on full, open all my windows, and look at them "great, better! You wanted to make sure I was using my A/C right? Thank you so much for caring about me neighbour!!"
There is ZERO impact individuals make running A/C or idling or anything. I know we all sound like a broken record, but take a gander at what India and China do to their surroundings. And at home here millionaires wag their opinions at everyone while they take a private jet that never shuts off, and get picked up in a V8 SUV that never shuts off to go to a private cruise ship that never shuts off, to eat a near extinct animal and then do some blow off a high priced hookers a*s and then slap her around. Then weak minded people listen to these people and admire them oh so much, because their brains never turn on.

Why not just outlaw sitting in parked vehicles? I can tell you it is much easier to control a moving vehicle cab temperature w/o air then a parked one. The time you need it most = parked.

The deal is Group 3+ synthetics (GTL) and Group 4 synthetics (PAO) both rely on gaseous hydrocarbons, so they get few to no impurities when reacting to make liquid hydrocarbon lube oils.

Bother prefer to start with natural gas (methane), and worlds biggest ource is Qatar, just before the Strait of Hormuz. Shell located their huge gas liquification plant there.

You can crack crude oil to make a moderate Group III lube oil, but it's nowhere near as good (saturated hydocarbons without impurities) as GTL and PAO.

They forewarned of synthetic oil shortages, which is why I am asking how members are doing.
