I didn't notice it when I first received the unit I was taking it out yesterday to do the mic mod when I saw the 3.5 jack. I know from previous radio installs that that's where the mic usually plugs. On the other hand I was afraid to try it because my radio was stable out the box only complaint I had is no one could hear me over bluetooth. From researching threads over the internet the only unit I had seen with an external mic was from Linkswell.

Yes this is what I took my radio out to do yesterday when I noticed the 3.5 jack

Do you have a parts list of what you bought for this?
The mic and the 3.5 jack?
Just curious if you got on amazon

All you need is a bluetooth mic. From what I understand is all you do is cut the end off and solder the black to black red to red if you want a way to disconnect the mic order a 3.5 jack and do the same red to red black to black. I was just goin to solder mine to the board because I never planned on disconnecting it. I got my mics on Amazon just do a search for 3.5 microphone just make sure you get one with a long enough cord to reach where you plan on installing. If you plan on installing in the headliner look for a 2017 and up at a wrecking yard that's when they changed the mic to the headliner. I used some cardboard and made a template that was smaller that the factory cover for the mic and taped it place for proper position then traced around it before I made a cut. Remember smaller is better you can always cut more. I then ran my mic through the headliner at the hole I cut to fasten it to the factory cover I used the smallest cable ties I could find around the hooks on the factory cover where they clip to the headliner so they wouldn't be seen after this I wrapped the sides of the mic in cloth tape so there wouldn't be any feedback or road noise.

If you ever decide to open your radio up, I'd love to see where that Jack is wired to on the main board.

Anyone have an issue connecting their iPod to the unit via USB. Mine doesn't recognize my iPod from any USB port
Is there some sort of magic trick to this?

I've never tried an iPod, have you tried an iPhone or USB flash drive? Is the iPod visible in ES File explorer?

Probably not as this system uses a fat32 read architecture. Don't think an iPod is compatible at all unless a dongle would do the hibbity bibbity computer magic

It's been a long time since I used an iPod but I thought they were Fat32 as well?

Ok guys I did the mic mod , removed old mic wires off the board soldered new 3.5 female then plugged that into my 3.5 mic from amazon .

Sound appears to be louder for sure but engine noise can be heard through mic .
I am not a audio person so maybe this is just a cheap mic and a better will fix that .
Suggestions ?
Thanks

Just avoid Phoenix all together and your odds of success are 98 percent better

Go into system info and advanced setting then system setting turn echo elimination on. This is when mine got crystal clear like the factory Mic. My elimination parameter worked best at 280

Yea I have mine on highest setting , it’s def better then the default mic , I did move it to my mirror which seemed to help with the engine noise so maybe that’s the best location for my truck 2015

I got mine from Rhino radios its has the black edge but I haven't had any problems it was plug and play and adjusting a few settings for my truck. and I found out that there was a 3.5mm jack installed on the back for an external mic.

Mine has a setting for elimination parameter which you are saying yours is set to 280. But then under that there's another setting for echo Elimination which I had to turn on for a clear mic.
